One of the solutions is to make them useless once they have been stollen and that involves banning the exportation of scrapped copper, It is however nonsense and stupid to use legislation to stop the theft of copper cables. Am sure there are other laws already in place to stop the export of stollen items including copper cables

The solution to the problem is educating the denizens of the consequence of those criminal acts and also strict enforcement of the law in such a way that when theieves are prosecuted this should be broadcasted on tv for all to see as this could act as a deterrent.
