The BNI don’t go about picking up every Mensah or Akosua but does so based upon the security information they establish.

One thing I liked about Kufffour is that he will not care and give a damn about such postings and everything will die away. The BNI has no business in this. If it is a criminal offence, let the CID handle it. The BNI comes in when the life of the president or the nation is threatened. People are beginning to care less of the BNI and the institution is being disrespected to the extent that people now even use them to collect debts. How often do you hear about the CIA whose equivalent in Ghana is the BNI. Ready for democracy, get ready for freedom of speech and human rights. If this posting had been done in Bangladesh, will the BNI go looking for that person. Their action will make many copycats do worse things.

This primitive demeanour must cease and as such the BNI must act from the position of strength not weakness.

Democracy does not mean you can do everything you want or whatever you like. Each citizen has his/her rights as well as responsibilities.

Democracy is guided or constrained by the rule of law. This is exercised by the security forces whose duty it is to maintain law and order and as the extended arm of the judiciary make case for prosecution. The BNI gather information and rate them on a scale as to whether it is a threat to national security either internal or external and if necessary act to preempt a seemingly trivial matter. Based upon information reaching the BNI the national security can filter it to defend the nation against aggressors both inside and outside. The enemy within is more dangerous than outside.

Yes certain things are trivial that one must sit it out but that also can prove to be dire if the other side sees that as a soft spot. And by the way, Kufuor did not make a good president by waiting on the matter to vanish or on the dementia of most Ghanaians whose ROM (read only memory) gets deleted as soon their brain go to sleep at night.

Nevertheless, I share your concern that this institution is losing some of its flair. The security at police HQ and BNI must be beefed up not to allow such hooligans to have their way. Again, Democrazy is a bitch!

Nana, I am glad you understand some of my explanations. This is a delicate issue that will be difficult to prosecute. That is why I was talking about the CID to rather handle this issue. What about Wadie say the picture was a look alike? And also the office does not look like that of the president. He also did not state anywhere that this is Prez Mahama. The CID could have been very methodological in gathering information. Many people like Wadie who I know may be a lawyer or well educated may keep mute and not answer any question from the BNI. Even if he did answer questions, he can go to court and say he did that under duress as he was denied access to lawyers during interrogation. What can the BNI do then? The BNI whose equivalent is the KGB, MOSSAD and the CIA should not be involved in such frivolous issues like this. Many sane people will not want the depiction (if that was him) of the president like that but the BNI is only stoking the embers.

If we want to win the next election, we need to start strategizing to infiltrate into unchartered strongholds where we lost massive votes and try to win souls by preaching the ideals of the party. Indulging in unnecessary endeavours that will not help but tarnish the credibility of this great party that its former leaders toiled for should not be entertained. - this raises the question which needs answering, as to where did these NPP Lawyers had their legal education and how good they were?; for, it appears that these NPP Lawyers are all daft to the legal concepts of Organs of State, Sepatation of Powers and importantly Dicey's Rule of Law

- how can the BNI be sued if they rightly or wrongly arrested and detained Wadie for questioning?; for, this is what the Police and the Security Agencies in civilised States like Kwame Nkrumah Ghana do daily

- shamefully, NPP lawyers are with nasty trade mark of doing such silly things; let's have a look at what their NPP loud mouthed and not so bright in Laws Akyem Akufo Ado is doing to upset peaceful Kwame Nkrumah Ghana

- dimwit Akyem Akufo Ado is at the Supreme Court saying that the entire Ghana voters fraudulently ganged up with the Electoral Commissiner to cheat him of winning the Presidential election; and that, he has idiotic Judges in there at the Supreme Court who are going to install him as President in place of Mahama

Well someone who wanted to be the chairperson of a giant political party as NPP should definitely live above reproach or at least not be involved in such ragged display of politics! I hope he wasn't the culprit!

Nevertheless, the intention to question the BNI by the NPP lawyers is right as the same state agency didn't attach similar seriousness when the NPP presidential candidate was in a like manner vilified. Double standards, this is!
