very true , Ghana is over but the pandora box of hegemony ,ethnocentrism , chauvinism , tribal racism , institutional corruption and veiled ideological hate camouflaged into left wing politics has been opened. it is only a matter of time when the country breaks up peacefully or in war . one can not in these times bury one's head in the sand like an ostrich but should prepare for the once unthinkable . its pay day for all the evils and stubbornness of the corrupt political oligarchy of the last 60 years who have neglected their obligations to the ordinary man for their own selfish gains. today the whispers are slowly becoming thundering shouts for freedom and yes Ghana can never be the same . it changed the day atta mills was brutally murdered and this govt refused an inquest so the truth be known . long live the republic of Akan

LEVYING TAXES ON IMPORT WILL KILL LOCAL BUSINESS. THERE IS ALREADY HIGH COST OF DOING BUSINESS INDEED ANY BUSINESS IN GHANA COMPARED WITH OUR NEIGHBORS TAKE TOURISM & HOSPITALITY FOR EXAMPLE WE CHARGE TOO MUCH FOR OUR HOTELS WITH SUB STANDARD SERVICES, THE INDUSTRY PLAYERS CLAIM IT DUE TO GOVERNMENT TAXES. TAKE THE TOURISM LEVY TAX!! THERE IS NO CLEAR INDICATION WHAT ITS GOING TO BE USED FOR. TAKE THE ROAD TOLL, THE ROAD FUND HAS BEEN MISMANAGED SINCE IT WAS STEP AND YET GHANAIAN ARE DYING ON THE ROADS!! TAKE OUR PORTS AND HARBORS, THEY ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE WHOLE OF WEST AFRICAN REGION WITH MASSIVE TAXES BY THE GOVERNMENT YET WE DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUNDS ARE USED FOR? ALMOST EVERY ASPECT OF OUR ECONOMY IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR IS OVER TAXED AND YET GOVERNMENT IS UNABLE TO CREATE JOBS TO DRIVE THE ECONOMY. TAKE THE BANKS. GHANAIAN BANKS ARE ANIT-GROWTH FOR LOCAL BUSINESS AND ONLY INTERESTED IN PROFIT WITHOUT ANY EFFORT TO ASISST THE PRIVATE SECTOR BY TAKING ANY RISK. THE GOVERNMENT JUST USES THEM TO INCREASE ITS TAXES AND REVENUE AND ALLOW THEM TO KILL LOCAL BUSINESS. YOU HAVE A MINISTER WHO COMES AND SAY RASHI PEPLU THAT GOVERNMENT CANNT SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS AGAINST COMPETITION AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!! SHEER INCOMPETENCE AND NO DIRECTION! IF TEKER ONLY WEAPON IS TAXES THEN WE ARE GOING TO SEE EVEN HIGHER RATIO OF UNEMPLOYED YOUTH WITH ALL ITS SOCIETAL CONSEQUENCE WHICH IN THE LONG RUN IMPACT NEGATIVELY ON BUSINESS! SAKA, ARMED ROBBERY PEN AND GUN! PROSTITUTION! HOMOSEXUALITY PROSTITUTE!! FAKE PASTORS SELLING HOLY WATER AND PEOPLE DYING!! SUICIDE! YOUTH SUICIDE! INCREASE IN ALL FORMS OF CORRUPTION!! ABUSE BY FOREIGNERS, INCREASE IN GALAMSY! CHILD PROSTITUTION! LABOUR UNREST AND POSSIBLE SO TRIBAL WARS!! THE LIST GOES ON...... NDC JUST CANNT GOVERN THEY KNOW HOW TO WIN AN ELECTION!! DONT ASK ME HOW!!

The problem is not about shortfall in revenue for the country. It is about daylight robbery of the nation by the MAHAMA and NDC administration. Kufuor left the nation with GHC8.5Billion in 2009 with huge projects executed by his administration, including major expansion projects in the nations power sector, road netwrk, universities, polytechnics, trining colleges, secondary schools and basic schools. Four years later, we owe over GHC35 Billion. What main project do we have to show for this massive debt increase? Last year, there was a budget deficit of GHC8.7 Billion from September to December, 2012, with the president's office alone overspending by stealing GHC650Million, NADMO overspending by GHC300Million, GYEEDA GHC200 Million, Zoom Lions companies through the Assemblies, etc. judgement debt USD1.2Billion, rLG paid over USD100 Million on the eve of the elections for laptops, with the promise to spend extra money for another 400,000 laptops which should normally not cost more than UDD200 each. We also spent GHC47 million on Asongtaba SADA project for guinea fowls and afforestation with nothing to show. Now the nation is further being threatened with the so-called, Hope City which will only be executed with stolen money from the state. Four years ago, how much were Agambire and his rLG worth? Four yeas ago, how much was Ibrahim Mahama worth? He couldnt even pay his staff. Now he has money to purchase aircraft and ships, bugatti, houses in Europe, etc, while Merchant Bank is being sold for a pittance so SNNIT can declare the GHC48 million debt owed by Ibrahim Maham's company a bad debt. Mahama knew he was going to lose the elections, and therefore he had to empty the coffers into his pocket. Unfortunately for him, NDC and the EC did not allow that to happen. Now he is grappling with the tsunami he has created and therefore businesses are the easiest target for recouping what he has stolen with his brothers and ministers. NDC knew that the number of their appointees who would have gone to jail would have been huge, and so they had to do everything to rig the elections. At almost 70 years, what Ghanaians can do for Afari Gyan is only to pray for God to forgive him for the calamity that he has visited on the nation.

I HAVE WARNED THESE MONKEY AND IGNORANT COMMENTATORS TO ABSTAIN FROM SUBJECTS THEY DO NOT MASTER. HE IS GOING TO USE BONDS PROCEEDS TO PAY OFF LOANS WHICH HAVE HIGHER INTEREST RATES. SO THE MONKEYS BEFORE HIM FOR LOANS DESPITE THE HARSH CONDITIONS. BRAVO. AS IF FORSOME TIME GOD SUSPENDED HIS ENDOWMENT. WHY DO AFRICANS ALWAYS LIVE ABOVE THEIR MEANS? COUNTING ON OVER SUBCRIPTIONS. YOU USE LOANS TO PAY INTEREST RATES. UNCLE LOAN IS A CURSE AND I PERSONALLY DONT SEE IT AS A CLUE.HOW DO YOU INTEND IMPLEMENTING INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVS. IF YOU DONT AWARD CONTRACTS TO COMPETENCE? I HOPE YOU ARE NOT INSINUATING A DIRECT MESSAGE TO EXISTING STRUCTURE COMPRISING YOUR PROBABLE OPPONENTS. CLOSE DOWN YOUR COMPANIES FOR I AM GOING TO WITHHOLD ALL CONTRACTS, SO ANY FURTHER FUTURE COLLABORATION MUST BE RENEGOTIATED. YOUR PATENT OF TRADE TO THE DOGS. YOUR QUALIFIED PERSONEL TO THE DOGS. TO PAY YOUR ARREARS, I HAVE TO TAKE A SECOND LOOK ALTHOUGH MY PREDECESSOR MIGHT HAVE DONE A GOOD WORK. YOU TOOK LOANS TO FINISH PREVIOUS PROJECTS. EXTRA TIME FOR SLEEPLESS NIGHTS BECAUSE OF ACCRUED IBTEREST. I AM A POLITICIAN TODAY, BECAUSE I WAS IN A SIMILAR SITUATION, BUT I AM A SMARTER MONKEY, SERVED BANANA AND THE SKIN SEPERATELY. DONT WORRY UNCLE, YOU HAVE FOUR SOLID YEARS, PROBABLY EIGHT TO SELL US EMPTINESS AND TOGETHER WE SHALL HARVEST. TELL US ABOUT THE HOW MUCH GH MAKES FROM NATURAL ENDOWMENT AND HOW THIS AMOUNT IS USED TO THE BENEFIT OF OUR NATION PERIOD. I WARN YOU SHARE THE BONUS TODAY FOR TOMORROW IS FOR THE MINUS.

WHAT DOES MAHAMA & HIS NDC THINK OF DONOR COUNTRIES WHO ARE NOW STRUGGLING WITH THEIR ECONOMIES WITH CUT BACKS TO THEIR BUDGETS AND RISING COST GOVERNANCE THERE AND HIGH RISE OF UNEMPLOYMENT AT THEIR BACKYARD THREATENING THEM. IT IS ONLY THE STUPID ONES THAT WILL NOT FIGURE THE OUTCOME OF DEALING WITH THEM AND BEHAVE LIKE THE WAY MAHAMA/NDC GOVERNMENT DID IN THEIR ELECTION CAMPAIGN WITH VOTE BUYING, SPENDING SPREE WITH FREEBIES TO THE ELECTORATE, SPLASHING OF MONEY TO BUY VOTES, CAMPAIGN SPENDING e.t.c. then AFTER THAT GOES BACK TO THE DONOR COUNTRIES FOR BAIL OUT WITH SOME OF THEIR SCARCE RESOURCES FOR GHANA'S DEEPLY CORRUPTED AND STUPID SPENDING ON NON PRIORITY AREAS OF THEIR ECONOMY!!!!
ONLY STUPID AND FOOLISH MAHAMA/NDC GOVERNMENT WOULD DO THAT!!!!!
ONLY IN GHANA & AFRICA THAT DO THAT KIND OF STUPID THINGS AND GOVERNANCE

If my memory serves me right, we have been implementing the "necessary and difficult policies" since the time of the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) with its siblings PAMSCAD, and all those policies with funny acronyms. We rather ended in HIPC so what is this man telling us now? Just go ahead and do whatever you want but one thing is certain: we are not going to get any better until the stealing stops.

IT'S SAD,A TINY COUNTRY LIKE GHANA,CANNOT SOLVE HER OWN PROBLEMS BUT HAS TO BORROW FROM OTHERS TO EXECUTE HER OWN BUDGET.
YET WE HAVE: COCOA,LUMBER,RUBBER,OIL,GAS,BAUXITE,GOLD,DIAMOND,URANIUM,MANGANESE ETC,AND CHEAP LABOUR FORCE.THE COMMON MAN ON THE STREET IS STILL SUFFERING.
THIS IS VERY SAD.
IN THE PHASE OF ALL THIS HARDSHIP,LEVIES/TAXES ON IMPORTS ARE GOING TO BE INCREASED.HOW CAN THE CITIZENRY BUY THOSE GOODS,IF THEY ARE UNEMPLOYED?
HIGHER TAXES WOULD MEAN MORE LAY-OFFS.HIGHER INTEREST RATES MEANS LOCAL BUSINESS WILL FAIL.
DOES NDC KNOWS HOW TO GOVERN?
NO SIR.
SHOULD THERE BE A CHANGE,THEN?
ABSOLUTELY.WHY?
BECAUSE CHANGE IS NECESSARY IN EVERY SUCCESS EQUATION,AND GHANA NEEDS TO SUCCEED.THIS KIND OF GUINEA FOWL GOVERNANCE CAN'T BRING THAT SORT OF CHANGES GHANA WOULD LIKE TO EMBRACE OR WELCOME.
THEREFORE,CHANGE IS INNEVITABLE.HOW?

Mr. Terkper should be very careful with his mindset of any astronomical tax increases which in effect will be a pathway of killing businesses. I think with the present unemployment situation in the country, promoting tax increases on businesses is not the right way. It will lead to closure of businesses or less economic acitvities which will affect the unemployment situation.
What Mr. Terkper needs to do is to rather cut taxes to enable businesses hire more people and prune down government expenditure on unproductive activities which are the root cause of economic imbalance of the government. Many loopholes are there in the government business which needs to be closed. Targeting taxes alone will not solve the imbalance issue but will rather in the long run have negative consequence. E&OE.

Now,whose words must Ghanaians take very serious? The President's or the Finance Minister's? If Ghana isn't broke then it means the President has been very economical with the truth when in Parliament he told all of Ghana, and the world at large, that the all the "flesh of the national treasury has dwindled leaving the bare bones". If the President's words are just the stark reality of the financial situation of the nation, then the Minister is still doing a face-saving propaganda, giving false hope to Ghanaians even as he talks about hikes in tariffs. This isn't surprising because this gov't never has had transparency and genuine accountability in its vocabulary list. May God forgive you all(if not punishment) for the terrible untruth into which this gov't has buried the nation. It seems we have senseless people leading the country.
