I am proud of Dumpong Rural Bank Ltd for the strides it makes. I identify with this bank because of personal reasons. Bank of Ghana and ARP Apex Bank have faith in this bank otherwise it should have been liquidated because of problems encountered at a point in their operations. This goes to emphasize the point that with good will from government and Bank of Ghana, companies which find themselves in distress as a result of some unscrupulous leadership as occurred at Bank for Housing and Construction in the nineties and early twenties during the course of their operations, better things can come out. Unfortunately, we most times allow politics to dictate the decisions we make instead of allowing professionalism to rule.
As we speak now, a Nigerian bank is in the process of buying a fully owned Malaysian bank in Ghana, which by all indications is not doing well. This state of affair has cause low morale in this bank as compared to other competitors but government and other faceless individuals in this country are doing everything possible to stall the process.Nigeria is not far from Ghana. We have allowed Malaysians to own businesses in Ghana and we dont find it prudent to allow our next door neighbours to do the same. Everything we do in this country, somebody must profit from it. How do we understand patriotism at all?
We are keenly watching developments and I can promise government not to toy with people's future otherwise they will be digging their own graves. We should allow professionalism to dictate our actions and this country will be the better.
It is not enough to provide just jobs but more importantly well paid jobs for Ghanaians to grow into big-time shareholders as we see of Nigerians. We say one thing and do another which are anti our commentaries. Actions speak louder than words.
It is the Nigerian banks which have revolutionize our banking system with aggression and technology. We know the banking system before UBA entered the market which was followed by others from Nigeria. More job opportunities were created in the country by the branch networks provided by these banks. We talk of jobs but we shoot opportunities that will create the jobs. What is wrong with us at all?
