You did not follow the preceding. Listen, Addison said there is no use calling those witnesses because whatever those witnesses will say have been confirmed by the EC to be true. So what else is Tsatsu going to ask them? It was just to delay the case. Tsatsu came with a mentality to destroy the case, but it has not work. What I foresee is that as long as Tsatsu couldn't destroy this case. NDC and EC will be in trouble. Because what will EC say to exonerate itself from these allegations? And what will Asiedu say that will make sense in the ears of the Judges. In fact, Nketsia's testimony actually doesn't count, it's just that NDC has to be satisfied with their request. My conclusion is EC will go down because it did not do a good job, it has wasted time and resources and therefore will go down in this case. Now, if EC falls before the swords of the judges, NDC will not be spared an inch. Ndc will definitely come down; the president will step down.

In 3rd February 1962 whilst in detention at the Nsawam Prison, the late Dr. J. B. Danquah wrote a petition to the Speaker of Parliarment. This is an extract:

Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members of the National Assembly, I feel certain that the recent upheaval of wholesale detention of free born Ghanaians by the Police all over the country – a practice which has put “the fear” of politics or of Government into the hearts of the people, so much so that they are even afraid to come forward to register their names as voters. I am sure the upheaval may have the effect of compelling the Supreme Court to exercise higher order of judgement if called upon once again to look into the Preventive Detention Act, 1958. If given such an opportunity the Court is likely to revise its earlier decision and to deliver an opinion exactly in accord with the meaning and intent of the Ghana Parliament-in inserting a provision that when the Governor-General (now the President) made an order against a Ghanaian that Ghanaian if aggrieved by the Order, was entitled to make “representations” against the Order. The Courts were established judge between persons who are subject to law, including the Governor-General, or the President or even the Government, and it is up to the Judges not to shirk their duty but to judge between right and wrong, true and false, whenever asked to do so by a citizen of the land, or any one subject to the law.

46. I, may be permitted to add that if the Supreme Court of Ghana saw its duty in this light and revised its earlier opinion the Judges of Ghana will have saved the President (successor of the Governor-General) from the facile temptation of causing nearly every opponent of his to be arrested and detained under the Act. What is more, a revision of the Judges’ views of the Act may save this country, Ghana, from the embarrassment of being looked upon by outsiders as a country practising jungle law. But my own immediate hope is that where Judicial Authority as well as the Executive Authority fails to fend for the defenceless citizen, you, the Legislative Authority, as the last resort and bastion of the oppressed, will come to his timely aid.

47. Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members of the National Assembly, I have written this Petition on behalf of myself because I am told that the regulations of this Prison do not permit any one to be an advocate (Okomafo) of another person. The Christian rule of “Love they neighbour as thyself” or “be a good Samaritan” does not apply in this prison. I have therefore to give up my usual role of Okomafo and speak for myself alone in this Petition.

48. But I am in a position to assure you, Mr. Speaker and Honourable Members, that many are the detained sons and daughters, and fathers and mothers of Ghana, who could submit similar plea to your august House….Some of these are young toddlers aged 14 or 16 years. Others are old and wizened grandfathers of 83 or even 95 years of age. I am certain that any favourable decision you, as the Sovereign Parliament of Ghana, take in my case, will have a similar effect for hundreds of Ghanaians from all parts of the country and from many families of our land-husbands and their wives, in one case, a father and his son, the latter an MP., the former a Chief, in this Prison alone about 450 in number, who are now held in prison under the Protective Detention Act, 1958, and denied access to lawyers or to the justice of the Judicial Authority of the land, or the Executive of the land.

49. From the bottom of my heart I sincerely hope that you, Honourable Members of the Ghana’s Parliament, who are elected by the people to create laws for the better governance of Ghana, will call for and insist upon total respect for those laws, and in good time.

50. Indeed, considering the fact that the memorable words inscribed on Ghana’s Independence Arch and underneath the nation’s Coat of Arms are “Freedom and Justice”, words to which I would wish to add the basic foundation of it all-“Rights” such that our nation’s scared motto should read “Right, Freedom and Justice”-considering this situation and the further fact that members of Ghana’s Legislature are the great guardians of the tripartite principle of Right, Freedom and Justice, I feel, indeed, I am confident, that this Petition will not fall on ears that are deaf. If it does, then, the consequences may be that I, and others similarly placed as I am, might be destroyed in the process, but it will be the destruction of martyrs, martyrs of their country’s great liberation, liberation from all kinds of imperialism, whether it be from the imperialism of Britain’s white-heated frying pan, or from a fall into the hellish black fire of the imperialism or caesarism of what is now referred to daily on our national Radio as “The Party”, as if there was only monolithic party in Ghana and no other Party in our land-the land liberated by us all for all.

AND Your Humble Petitioner, as in duty bound, will ever pray.

What baffles my mind is when NDC's lead council, Tsatsu Tsikata argued with Dr. Bawumia that infact there wasn't any over voting and voting without biometric verification anywhere; he said it was Bawumia's own imaginations to deceive the court into thinking that the EC helped John Mahama to win the elections. He was in a way trying to impress upon the Supreme Court Justices that it was in Dr. Bawumia's own "selfish" intrest to become Vice President of Ghana that he sought to make false statements about over voting, with his pink sheets evidence ect.

The NDC can run but they cannot hide! Their cups are full; they've been rigging elections since 1992 and have become so familiar with election fraud that the didn't think twice about rigging the December elections. They still can't believe how the NPP could stop them in their tracks this time.

They [NDC] should know that genuine believers and honest citizens who once belonged to their party crossed carpet and fed the NPP all the 'info' about the "Ways & Means" of NDC's election rigging strategy. Folks would recall the Boateng-Gyan tapes. Let's hope one day, our Justices would listen to them; they won't have to wait a minute to pronouce the verdict. Or talk about the 241,000 "Ghost" Diasporan Voters among others.

Interestingly, the same NDC's Lead Council, Tsatsu Tsikata has turned around to accuse NPP of accepting over voting results in Kumasi, in the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region. Mama Mia! I couldn't help but laugh my head off; is this the legal luminary that the NDC had been making noise about? Ama Benyiwa Doe said, before the beginning of the trial that with Tsikata on NDC's side, the case is over for NPP. The NDC also goes around to bragg that Tsatsu taught some of the Justices in law school so he knows the law better than them and can dictate how the hearing should run; they said he is in control. That's bullshit!

I've always said right here on Ghanaweb that I believe in the Justices, although in the initial stages I had some concerns. But making background research about the Justices, I've come to the conclusion that there will be fairness in this trial, esp. with Justice Atuguba as the chief refree. We ought to give respect to our Noble Justices; the task that is laid before them is not an easy one. They'll deliver---no doubt.

Now let the NDC tell Ghanaians who is in control. They think they can use "buga-buga" tactics and propaganda to confuse Ghanaians. Everyone has access to the hearing via Media (Radio, TV & Internet) and won't need secondary news reportage from any quaters what so ever! We're all watching court proceedings live! I tune into GBC-TV 6:00AM Canada Time when I'm on afternoon shift, else I get coverage on my Mobile Phone "Tune-In" Radio's Android App. I couldn't have asked for more!

We that Chief Justice, Georgina Wood for her offer. All in all, it's a great feeling to imagine how far we've come as a nation. There's still a lot ahead; we're on the march towards our goals as a nation. Let the Supreme Court always be the judge. May God bless our Homeland, Ghana. Amen!

Do you remember during the '12 elections, how the ndc people at the ec strongroom prevented kwabena agyapong and co from adding some votes to the npp. Despite everything asiedu nketia is an all round winning general secretary. Look, nana's campaign was only at the regional level whiles mahama was in villages.Winning an election from opposition is very very tedious and expensive. Npp should strategize very well for the '16 elections,and stop crying over spilt milk, thank you.

well said. I can't agree more. Whiles the NDC were at villages, NPP sat at radio stations in Accra giving lectures on exchange rates and woyome. Rural folks do not care about woyome. NDC is very tactical.

One can recalled that during the 1992 election JJ did the same thing to then Adu Boahen, but instead to do right thing and take the case to court, he abstained from Parliament.
What Akuffo Addo has done this time will ensure that our next election will be free and fair, even if they lost the appeal cast. kudos NPP
