A stalwart of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Tony Aidoo, has accused the main opposition New Patriotic Party of “hiding something” in the election petition case.

“They are not coming to court with a petition that is in good faith…they are not fulfilling the maxim of equity, [which demands] that those who come to equity must come with clean hands”, Dr. Aidoo told XYZ News in an interview on Tuesday May, 7, 2013.

“They are hiding something”, he insisted.

Dr. Aidoo, who served as Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency in the last administration said: “The 11,000 or so polling stations to which they want to restrict the whole case do not represent the real story of the 24,000 polling stations”.

According to him, the Petitioners “have been very selective, and the selectivity has been targeted at polling stations where President John Mahama won”.

The Petitioners-Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who is the 2012 Presidential candidate of the NPP; his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the key witness in the case and the Party’s national Chairman, Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey-are praying the court to annul results in 11, 138 polling stations where they claim widespread irregularities occurred during the December 7 and 8 elections last year.

The Respondents are President John Mahama, the Electoral Commission and the governing NDC.

Lead Counsel for the third Respondents, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata sprung up a controversial pink sheet in court yesterday with the aim to proving that the purported irregularities clamoured about by the Petitioners did not only happen in the NDC’s stronghold but also in the NPP’s stronghold.

Dr. Tony Aidoo explained that: “…Mr. Tsikata, on the basis of pleadings that they have made in response to the petitioners, says ‘you have not come to court in good faith, and I want to show you evidence that you are acting in bad faith that you have been selective, that you are not telling the court the whole story, that you want the court to decide in your favour on the basis of selective presentation of evidence’”.

“So he wanted to confront Dr. Bawumia with evidence of the Petitioners’ lack of good faith. That is what the whole thing is about”, he emphasised.

The S/C Chairman on many occasions drew his (Tsatsu) attention to the repetitive nature of his questions but unfortunately he (Tsatsu) doesn't get it as he is stuck in this monotonous debacle.

The posture of tin-god Tsatsu carved and projected himself is very fast eroding as proceedings unfold.

If the respondents now want to raise questions about the Ashanti Region then the logic is that the EC contrary did conduct a shubby election and therefore the elections was not free and fair. It also confirms that it is the wise and non violent people who result to the court to address their grievances on this note it implies it is not any fool who goes to court but those who have a genuine case.

Everyday, the cross examination makes this statement abundantly clear. It has put Bawumia on the ropes,as he struggles unconvincingly to deny their agenda. A good cross examination proceeds to set the real sinister motive of an evasive witness and moves on to show why his characterisation of the witness is accurate. This is Tsatu's line. Merely denying or refusing to give straight answers or feigning not being aware is not good enough for a witness seeking to annull million votes.

It means the 2,000 polling stations for which he could not obtain pink sheets fall under just the remaining 3 constituencies that he did not cover. I know some NDC people are reading this, please pass the information to Tsatsu. That Bawumia said all the 11,000 pink sheets were from 272 out of 275 constituences. So the remaining 2,000 can be found in the three constituences he did not cover. Which three SUPER constituences in Ghana put together contain 2,000 polling stations? Dr Bawumia should not be left off the hook on this one. He should not get away with this blatent lie. They refused to include the results of the 2,000 for a reason known to everyone. His dishonesty is becoming too much.

According to oxford dictionary. A fraud is gaining an unfair advantage over another person. Therefore fraud can be classified as intentional, unintentional and if EC conducts constitute these two factors, it means the fraud had been established. A election which is fraudulent need to be nullified by the EC and if EC refused to applied the rule or the law, then Supreme Court must test the law to protect the future incidents and send a good signal to other Africa countries that we are capable of handling election disputes through the law court not war or commotions. I strongly believed that Supreme Court will not let selfish individuals go free without facing the supremacy of the law which will safeguard our democracy, development and also served as deterring to other institutions or individuals to refrain from election fraud. Election is the destiny of every country well being for posterity to come.
