I would argue that this is not enough comparing the tax these mining companies pay to the Ghana government and the projects proposed do not much. Their Corporate Social Responsibilities should be published and I wonder even if they have one for the area they operate in the Takwa area. I blame no-one than our corrupt and incompetent leaders who virtually give away our resources for free. Degrading miles of land and raining insult on the people?Their conscience will pay them back.

Hmm this is nothing . One should visit South Africa and found out what this same Goldfield company offer to the communities in South Africa. From road ( not ordinary roads we see in Ghana) ,water system ,housing and supporting the universities there in research and scholarships . I sometimes wonder if the Ghanaians directors are blind or just greedy bastards and keep the money to themselves .Look at the roads in Obuasi and you will wonder is this the place where from generation to date Gold mining been going on ? Ghanaians or the ordinary people in all this gold mining village or small towns should stand up .When are we going to get leaders with common sense in Ghana ??

Well, let us get into real situations in Developed Economies like USA, UK, Germany, Holland and so on. Such projects by way of contribution by companies are called CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - CSR. These are provision of amenities or facilities to the communities into which these companies operate to make much of their profits. Thus, the provision of water facilities, building school blocks, hostels to Goldfield community is nothing new. If anything, it is too long in their provision of such facilities. I am pretty sure the company want to shout to people to advertise these their noble idea which is fine. But, like I asked earlier, for how long has Goldfield been operating in Ghana, more so in Tarkwa? Then what have they done for the Community to date? I do not want to presume anything order than to leave the company to answer the above simplw question.
Yes, Goldfield has blow their horn, but, we are all waiting for the fruitfulness of their pronouncement. Then, it is which we will all congratulate them, but until then we surely must keep or figures cross. Thus My Abdul Razak Yakubu, as the Community Affairs Manager, we are earnestly waiting to see some fruition in your big talk.

Addison asks how come the total ballots in the box will be more than the ballots issued and what name is given to those figures which are in excess.
Nketia says people are not searched before voting and there is a possibility of people going into the booth with foreign materials. So there can always be unidentified materials in the box which when sorted will ensure equity between ballots issued the papers in the box.

Extra ballot papers are “unidentified materials” not “overvoting”

The contentious definition of over-voting has been resurrected during the cross-examination of witness for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Asiedu Nketia, by counsel for the petitioners. It is in response to Dr.Bawumia’s definition during his evidence-in-chief.
And it is this: extra ballot papers found in the ballot box after voting constituted “unidentified materials” but “not “over-voting”, he argued.
Counsel for petitioners, Philip Addison sought to find out from Mr Asiedu Nketia how he would term a situation in which despite a 100 ballots issued, it turned out there are 110 ballots in the box.
“They are unidentified materials in the box”, he termed.
The witness, who is also testifying for president Mahama, the first respondent, was further pressed by Addison to explain using pink sheet exhibits, a situation where total votes cast was 448 but the number issued was less.
He said voters were not searched before they voted. All the processes was transparent except what happened in the voting box. In his view, it was “entirely possible” for people to add foreign ballots.
This possible anomaly cannot happen and “pass for declaration undetected”, he said, insisting that figures entered on pink sheets the petitioners claimed are evidence of over-voting were rather entered “in error”. They are “clerical errors”, he announced.
Mr. Nketia proceeded to explain that in such a situation the ballot papers are turned upside down to fish out ballots that may have not been stamped or authenticated by the electoral officers.
He drew an analogy and said if in the court room, among the accredited observers, an unaccredited person is found, it does not make the presence of the accredited audience illegal.
