Anu or whatever you call yourself, when was it ever known that journalists who are doing their work contribute to disturbing the peace of a country? And who told you that soldiers are trained to do the work of the police? To educate you properly, soldiers are trained to protect a country from external aggression; the police are trained to maintain law and order in any country. In civilised countries soldiers are never seen even in the streets except in emergency cases when they are called upon to assist the police.Independece day celebrations are not emergency cases in any civilised country. Also, nobody commits a crime just by taking photos of a head of state during public functions, and if a crime has supposedly been committed in a situation like this,it is the duty of the police to handle it,not soldiers.Until you get this simple logic into your demented brain you will forever live in a country where the basic rights of people are trampled upon by undisciplined and uncouth soldiers. Just wait and see what happens if and when the journalists involved institute criminal and civil actions againsts those idiots in court. And for your information,I write better English than your entire family lumped together.Mr SSS-trained linguist.

Thank you Mr. Gaduga for highlighting the significant weakness in social and state institutions.
You indicated that the Military and Police were all powerful, and you were probably saying it tongue-in-cheek, but that is the misconception and misapplication of their role.
The Military do have power, but it should be the power to defend and their pride should emanate from their ability to do that.
The police have power but it should be power to keep law and order, to protect life and property and keep the peace.
There is a great deal of miseducation of our security forces;and that lack of awareness of their role is misused by the executive arm of government, politicians, the wealthy and family and friends.
We are all therefore complicit and we have to start educating ourselves just as much as we educate the perpetrators you describe
This kind of unrelenting pursuit of wrongdoing and infractions of the law give a clear signal that
1.abuse by security personel will not be tolerated by the wider society.
2. offenders will be severely punished
3. if as a family member or friend and you ask a security personel to teach someone a lesson, not only will that agent be prosecuted but you could too.
Whatever it takes push for prosecution.
thank you

It is only in an uncivilized world where such a thing can happen. Our men in uniform are more often than not not the best of scholars and dont act professionally. some behave like they are above the law. Do they know that they can be sued ? Well they know that their bosses will always come to their rescue that is why most of them have become armed robbers these days.
Shame un to the military high command for the way they have handled this issue.
Discernning Ghanaians were of the view that they were going to apologize for the misdeeds of their subordinates.
They forget that without the arms and the uniforms they are nothing.
Once again i say a big shame to the military high command for this verdict.

The army are beating us and the police are robbing us....Now the introduction of draconian measures for the lower class eg petrol and soon water and electricity tariffs, extra road tolls. Let me explain...A few days ago I passed through a police check point and was asked to pull over. On demand I produced my licence, then showed him my spare tyre, then on demand my fire extinguisher which I produced. He then asked for my First Aid box which I had not. He told me he was writing a charge sheet (similar to a pink slip) LOL, and that I will have to go to Court in Accra, mean while he held fast my licence in his hand. I pleaded like a few others and then was led to a back office where I would be free to go, I knew for some remuneration similar to a spot fine!!
Anyway that was 100 ghc, after pulling all my money out of my pocket which was a 50 cedi note, the result was 40 ghc after I begged him to give me at least back 10 for petrol which he did from his own pocket. The story is familiar I am sure for some of us out there. But the funniest thing is...THESE guys carry GUNS, so I dont argue, Likewise the real armed robbers out there too. This Government has to be aware of the number of incidences plus the express mode of travel/services via cash bribes in govt providers etc. Some may even want the services of J.J. or similar once again before the situation escalates to the detriment of a peaceful Ghana. Control and RESPECT for one another is losing ground.
