Good one there NLC. I pray the Court would speedily do the right thing, without fear or favour, by giving a judgment baked by natural justice, common sense and which is in public interest. These Doctors are behaving like Oliva Twist. God should forgive them before they (the striking Doctors) start to die themselves, for he who digs a pit for his neighbour will himself full into it. What are this people turning this noble profession into? Ikaida? Using the poor and the vulnerable and innocent citizens as a bargaining chip for what? Allowance the gov’t is committed to pay according to a prescribe schedule? The country gives them so much (Sponsored Education, Good Salary, Waiver of Import Duty on the expensive cars they buy, given all the protection with the tax payers money) what are they giving the country in return? Where is Patriotism, love for ones country gone to? How can we develop our country with this type of attitude? Always wanting to take more from the country, than what you give the country. Doctors are now becoming synonymous to illegal strikes for which the oath they swore as doctors prohibits.

Well, all strikes are illegal. The constitution (and UN Charter) allows individual and group rights and freedoms to form, belong to, organize, negotiate and demonstrate.
But unfortunately, there is no law permitting strikes in any country, being it a democracy or not. This is the fact and the truth.
That is why the employer has the right to "lock out" staff or even terminate/dismiss workers when it comes to such intractable situations.
The government would normally allow the worker and employer to go at each other trying to agree on some mutual terms or agreements. When this is not possible, the government will send in mediators and when the worse comes , the government will arbitrate where both sides end up losing as either side would not be achieve their respective original goal.
These doctors could be dismissed and made to re-apply but this time with some good behaviour

I remember Prez Obama telling Ghanaians to build strong institutions. But we have allowed political party leaders to decide for every instituttion in Ghana now. Political party leaders now directs institutions what to do instead of allowing the institutions to decide for themselves. Now everything from appointment of staff to the determination of salaries and even the activities of the security services is directed by party memebers and that is why we are all suffering.

Labour Act 2003, Part XX, Section 172 Enforcement of orders of the Commission states: Where any person fails or refuses to comply with a direction or an order issued by the Commission under this Act the Commission shall make an application to the High Court for an order to compel that person to comply with the direction or order.
