The Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem Library, which is located on the premises of the now defunct Children's Park at Amakom in Kumasi, has been closed down, as children in the region to who the facility was dedicated are not deriving much benefit from it.

The facility has consequently been handed over to the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC), owners of the facility. Mrs. Rebecca Akita, Director of the Ashanti Regional Library Board, who disclosed this to The Chronicle upon enquiry, said the facility had since been returned to the RCC.

She stated that her outfit could no longer operate the library, as a result of insecurity of the premises, following the neglect of the Kumasi Children's Park at Amakom, and the level of deterioration of the facility, thus affecting patronage.

However, I will be happy to see the Ashanti Kingdom establishing physical projects like hospitals, schools, recreational centers, etc. to boost Ashanti economy. If Ashanti is well organized, we can rule ourselves with little central government involvement, and collect taxes for developmental purposes. I am therefore humbly appealing to Nana Otumfour to set up a committe for developmental purposes to help Ashanti move ahead. Kumasi is over-congested, and criminals are ruling our loved city. Ghana is blessed with many natural resources ,and apart from kwame Nkrumah who was able develope the country the rest of leaders have lacked vision and leadership ,they are mostly corrupt,greedy,selfish and not fit for purpose and therefore fail to seek growth and development of the nation.In today's ghana politicians and chiefs conive with foreigners to destroy and pollute our farm lands and river for sake of mining gold and diamond at the disadvantage of ghanaians,many of us are so lazy that buy and sell through importation of fake and cheap goods from Asia to our markets for consumption and no wonder we have higher incidence of many outbreak of diseases ,sickness and deaths .While's organic foods are healthy but cheap in terms of cost we rather prefer the inorganic foods which are of no nuitritional values but expensive which are also imported.Until we change our behavour and attitude ,work hard and eat what we grow ,change that mentality that the white man is richer and better than us we shall not see prosperity after God created us in his own image for both black and white.

I hate it when African leaders or for that matter anyone from Africa, ask outsiders to come to our aid. We are endowed with abundant natural, human, and physical resources, yet through the mismanagement of our so-called leaders, we remain poor. If African leader will have their respective citizens' interest at heart, we will be better off and no outside help will be needed. Let's START the house cleaning (stop bribery and corruption {10%}, blatant looting of the public coffers; MAKE LAWS WORK!!!) and see if we will still need outside help.
