All of a sudden nonentities want to portray to the world how close they were to the late President.
Those who had to chat with him for one hour everyday, those Deputy Ministers who had to call him every morning before the man could even brush his teeth, and still those who would be called to the Castle by the late President to express his appreciation for job well done after they had gone to insult political opponents in the media on his behalf. A significant number of Ghanaian public servants are spoiled, lazy and outright incompetent. All they care for is opportunity to cheat the government and “allowances”. They work about 2-4 hours of the day. The doctors refer the patients to their private clinics – in effect they use the hospitals as conduits to funnel clients or recruit clients. The lecturers recycle old notes which they photocopy and sell to students. The pharmacists pilfer drugs or also refer clients to their private “drug stores”. Some public servants go to work at 10:00am, go to lunch from 12:00 to 2:30pm and close at 4:00pm; and then go to fill their pot bellies with beer/kebabs and chase girls with the bribes they collected at work.
I bet you; at least 50% of Ghanaians workers cannot survive in US, unless they undergo serious retraining, indoctrination and change their attitudes.
I know very well that there is a shortage of doctors in Ghana before I made that statement. I said they should be allowed to reapply for their jobs (under different conditions). If they refuse to reapply where will they go? There aren’t enough private practices to absorb all of them; or they will go set up offices in some single rooms.
The government should FIRE any group of persons who go on strike and each employee should be made to reapply for his/her job. They can use the opportunities to remove the chaff and also to downsize. The public sector is outrageously bloated and grossly inefficient. There are far too many MPs, ministers, directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, etc.

Jesus and Satan were having an ongoing argument about who was better on his computer. They had been going at it for days, and God was tired of hearing all of the bickering.
Finally God said, "Cool it. I am going to set up a test that will run two hours and I will judge who does the better job."
So, Satan and Jesus sat at the keyboards and typed away. They moused, They did spreadsheets, They wrote reports. They sent faxes. They sent e-mail, They sent out e-mail with attachments.
They downloaded, They did some genealogy reports. They made cards. They did every known job
But ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, the rain poured and, of course, the electricity went off.
Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld. Jesus just sighed.
The electricity finally flickered back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming "It's gone! It's all gone! I lost everything when the power went out!"
Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours. Satan observed this and became irate. "Wait! He cheated, how did he do it?"
God shrugged and said, "Jesus saves and he has power"
Power is a two way street. If you have no respect for your enemies, you will never have power.

I suggest that the State must be decisive in providing the solution to the agitation of Unions in Ghana.
Payment by instalment is good solution to the State.
Union leaders who are not happy with this decision should go to Court. Court can help in these issues.
The Employers also should help by ordering the employees to go to work, failure to comply with the order, salaries should be deducted from workers who are staying home without working. This will serve as deterrent to people not to hold students and health seekers to ransom.
Over to you, Employers.

I have always wondered what we are up to in Ghana. Many of the guys at the FWSC and LC are not qualified, inexperienced, untested and just boot-lickers. What a shame.
Yes, Kweku is right in saying "He said the season of strikes which has engulfed the country is because “somebody somewhere is not up to the responsibility entrusted to him or her.”

Kwaku, wage negotiations are not and should not be treated the way you think. Passion cannot override set principles or terms as set before negotiations begin. In other words the individual you think should be fired is equally constrained by those very terms which both parties ought to respect. Stalled negotiations are nothing new in any labor front but the rush to resort to strike actions is simply an exhibition of ignorance and distrust in the system. Kwaku! don't also forget that the outcome of such negotiations often leads to a rise in wages and thus have a bearing on the national budget too. Care and patience devoid of intransigent positions by both sides should therefore be the order throughout the negotiation process. What is going on in Ghana is the failure of the representing leadership of the labor groups to also cave in, an approach I think they might perceive as a sign of weakness. But you know what, in negotiations, that is the way it goes. It is not a win-loser game but rather a win-win battle. What you do not want to experience is to be pushed to the extreme end of the pendulum. You can reach tentative agreements now on main issues while you iron out that you cannot agree on on a behind the scene basis between the leadership and the employers representative. And this is what seemed to be absent with the parties involved. Doctors think their services are indispensable and so is their demand. Well, if you do not want someone to negotiate on your wages then the best thing to do is to open your own clinic. God bless Ghana.

A guy is hanging out in his favorite bar in East Legon when he spots a fabulous babe walking in on the arm of some ugly man. He asks the bartender about her and is surprised to discover that she's a prostitute. He watches her the rest of the night, amazed that someone so attractive could be available to him. The next night he goes back to the bar, and sure enough she shows up again, only this time alone. The guy gets up his nerve and approaches her. "Is it true you're a prostitute?" "Why, sure, big boy. What can I do for you?" "Well, I dunno. What do you charge?" "I get $100 just for a handjob. We can negotiate from there." "$100!! For a handjob? Are you nuts?" "You see that Ferrari out there?" The guy looks out the front door, and sure enough there's a shiny new Ferrari parked outside. "I paid cash for that Ferrari with the money I made on handjobs. "Trust me, it's worth it." The guy mulls it over for a while, and decides what the hell. He leaves with her, and gets the most unbelievable experience he's ever had. This hand job was better than any complete sexual experience in his miserable life. The next night he's back at the bar, waiting eagerly for her to show up. When she does, he immediately approaches her. "Last night was incredible!" "Of course it was. Just wait till you try one of my blow jobs." "How much is that?" "500 Cedis" "500!Cedis?! C'mon, that's ridiculous!" "You see that apartment building across the street?" The guy looks out front at a 12 story apartment building. "I paid cash for that building with the money I made on blow jobs. Trust me, it's worth it." Based on the night before, the guy decides to go for it. He leaves with her, and once again is not disappointed. He nearly faints - twice. The next night he can hardly contain himself until she shows up. I'm hooked, you're the best! Tell me, what'll it cost me for some pussy?" She motions for him to follow her outside. She points down the street, where between the buildings he can see Accra. "You see that Movenpick Hotel?" "Aw, c'mon! You can't mean that!" She nods her head. "You bet. If I had a pussy, I will have power to own Accra!"
