I am not arguing that the concerns raised by the students are 100 percent not true. My brothers, I have always being a very strict invigilator and lecturer. Please, from my experience, immediately students are not able to have their ways with the teacher /lecturer, then the lecturer/teacher or invigilator is branded as a wicked person. Some students even go to the extent of fabricating stores about those teachers in question. Please let us be very circumspective when dealing issues involving teachers and current crop of students. I am always committed to fairness-(1) teachers have no right to abuse the fundamental human rights of students (2) likewise the students .
Mostly, I don’t blame teachers, rather I put the blame on the authorities (national level and schools). Mostly rules and regulations are formulated by the authorities and it is expected of teachers to implement those laws. The same authorities go round to plead on behave of students if found culpable. A classical example is Ministry of Education pleading on behave of students for gross misconduct.
In Ghana, normally there is no uniformity when implementing policies. Some people (big people, their children, friends and relatives) are above the law while others (low people) are severely subjected to the law. The injustice in Ghana is too much. God have mercy and help the poor.

The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?

Sometimes it will is absolutely necessary to search students before they take exam; but it has to be done by female invigilators when the students involved are female. Further it has to be done humanely and appropriately.

Searches go on when passengers are boarding airplanes and this includes women passengers by female airport authorities. Male passengers are frisk by male airport authorities

This is the third negative report on WASSCE today. The first was a student piercing the eye of an invigilator, followed by a Science teacher at Swedru Senior High School forcibly barbering final year students because in his view, their hair were too bushy. Now, this story. If all these are accurate, then, school authorities are abusing their positions. I pray and hope that, at least, not all of them are accurate as the saying goes that, in every story there are two sides of the coin, but I say there are three sides.

Do not conclude before conducting your investigation. I saw a girl who wrote subject matters and hid under her pantis though she was in her menses. When an invigilator approach her, she quickly removed the papers with blood stains on it and destroyed it. She was arrested by the police immediately. Some of the students always want to cheat at exams. Some manouvered to get the question papers through their parents, especially, the rich ones. All students should be properly checked and highly invigilated. The invigilators should be strict in applying all the rules. One of my seniors papers was cancelled by his own father who was the headmaster of the school. There was no matpactices. His accusation was he looked back. According to him, he just stretched his neck after contineuos for a long time. The rules are there and need to be applied.

Whilst students have become ingenious at cheating in examinations, school authorities must not allow unscrupulous teaching elements to dehumanize students. If the search processes described here are actually taking place, then the entire teaching staff and WAEC representatives present--if any--must be oriented in examination procedures. Students are going to resort to tricks, yes, but if the school puts out adequate vigilant measures, students' cheating efforts could be thwarted and render them extremely frustrated. If these disgraceful search practices are really occurring, then i would say the teachers are being typically Ghanaian. Instead of actually invigilating the examination to ensure fair play, they want this short cut so they can sit down without and chat rather than supervise the students.
Who says that these students will take materials with them at the entry point? They can hide them in the washrooms and use them on the pretext of easing themselves. If they have phones, some could text answers. Are students prevented from taking phones and electronic devices to the examination halls? What about teachers who collect money and work out the answers and pass them on to the candidates? Are the teachers just as suspicious and vigilante with their colleagues? The Headmistress had better informed us that the report is false else her school has been shamed to the highest level!

Please do your work well. This story, I think, is a complete lie and wouldn't pass any test. Why didnt those students who made the allegation report the issue to their parents to take the matter up with the police or the school authorities but decided to come to the media?
