Nothing seems to work in Ghana because from the president down to the office worker, there is no sense of urgency in anything we do. We are so laid back attending only urgently to matters that will fill pockets with money in a backhanded corrupt way.
The president and parliamentarians do not obey the constitution and the law which they have created so nobody takes the aw seriously. For example the president and parliamentarians are mandated by the constitution and law to declare their assets but they have not done so for 5 years and the commander in chief does nothing about it. How do you expect the rest of the nation to obey the law?
There are no sanctions or punishment for people who break the law, steal from the tax payers; woyome is an example; instead he is given permission to visit the USA and there is no indication when we will get our monies back.
So awards have been made according to the NLC and the awards have not been paid so what next? Who then follows this up to ensure a successful end to this saga?
The perception here, rightly or wrongly in this case is that, while the government is saying publicly that the finances of the country have reached bare bones (according to Mahama) they have somehow found millions of cedis to pay some MPs who were voted out of last parliament for non performance or delivery to their constituencies up to 300,000 cedis each ex gratia payment; what we are thanking them and giving them this golden handshake i have no idea.
This perception of the people is going against Mahama and his government and it is time they woke up and sorted out the mess
