Everything in Ghana/Africa is always shrouded in secrecy, all because of corruption and the accompanying shenanigans.

1967. 'Apart from handing over public corporations to private enterprise, the 'N.L.M' announced drastic cuts in the routes operated by Ghana Airways, the halting of work on the new international airport at Tamale in Northern Ghana.....' President Mahama thank you, now let Juale hydro-dam become a reality and Togo and Ghana would be more united since the dam would supply middle to upper Togo with electricity. All buildings at the Tamale airport should and must have solar energy.

This is probably the best development news I have read in recent times. I am not a northerner and neither an NDC supporter. During my secondary school days in the early 70's, I used to fly Accra -Tamale to visit my relations who worked in the north. I have since been a strong advocate of the idea of improving the Tamale airport to international standard and making it the main entry airport to Ghana. Most of the congestion in Accra will dwindle if the project is completed. Thanks to Kwame Nkrumah's vision for the country. Start developing the north; hotels, eateries, leisure centres etc to cater for the influx of people to the north. I can't wait to see the commencement and completion.

No further delays I am sick of landing at Kotoka and travelling the next day out of Accra. I can wait to land and take-off from Tamale to New York.

Even very poor African countries like Malawi and Togo have two international Airports whereas Ghana has only one. Even that one has just one toilet and looks like a Railway Station

Nkrumah had the vision to make Tamale the Newyork city of Ghana. The airport was part of a bigger plan to transform Tamale and the north. As Ghanaians we must be proud that we are a united people. We must eschew regionalism and support the development of the nation as a whole. I have suddenly fallen in love with Tamale after living in Accra for sometime. Tamale really has the potential of being the newyork of Ghana, its a truly an emerging city.
