Most Doctors and Lawyers don't have Maids in Ghana because they can't afford them and the fact that you are an MP does not mean you should have a Driver and a Maid.
This fool is talking about rent when we just gave you GHc50,000 for rent allowance.

Rashid what nonsense are you talking about of MPs being in debt.
The Ghanaian public has not forgotten that immediately President Mahama took office and not so soon Parliament opened the first thing you and your colleagues did was to increase your your salaries. In this wise it is completely insane for you to tell Ghanaians that the MPs are in debt. Can you or President Mahama tell the electorate that the arrears of salaries owed to the Professionals just came into existence, whilst you increased yours? Or perhaps the Government can tell the Professionals they are not important in building Ghana. What is due must first be paid them, simply they are also human beings who have various responsibilities at home.
Sometimes, I wonder Ghana Governments really do understand the meaning of creative governance to equitably share .

Parliamentarians are inherently public servants. You go into politics to serve your nation and as such must include certain sacrifices. If you are in no position to do so, please stay away from politics. Needy and self serving people who go into politics eventually become a burden on the already suffering people. They resort to corruption, looting, nepotism and a general sense of entitlement. A "poor" nation such as Ghana can not afford such people.

"We pay our drivers, maids, rent, buy [their] own fuel and manage your constituency. Ask them how many did not have to borrow money to manage their constituency? Before the end of the month they are broke,"

Food for thought:
1. who asked you to have a driver?
2. who asked you to have maids?
3. who asked you to rent?
4. who asked you to buy your own fuel?
MPs are paid a salary just like everybody else and they are supposed to manage their lives with that salary.
If you choose to hire drivers, and maids and buy fuel, it is your business, it is not the business of the state.
Managing your constituency is your job and the government has already voted money for it.
Start living within your means and you will not be broke.......

Becoming an MP is not by right nor is it by conscription in Ghana, as far as our laws suggest and certainly not by the laws of nature. If you guys and girls are finding it difficult to keep your roles as MPs and members of society at the same time, please just vacate your seats, as it is done elsewhere. If the financial responsibilities are overwhelming, please just leave. You are not under conscription to serve in these roles. You do not need a car loan as an MP just use public transport just like most MPs in Scandinavia do. After all, they these countries abroad keep giving us aid and their top officials cycle to work, use public transport and live in ordinary flats and not mansions with many house-helps, so to speak. Use video conferencing if your constituency far from Accra. You do not have to be in Accra every week to discuss issues in Parliament. If MPs work and dont get paid who are those who get pay. When workers stop going to work it means we have a useless government which MPs are the leaders. Why should anybody work without getting pay while Woyome got paid. NDC government has failed hanaians for nearly 5 years, it wasnt after 2012 elections but 4 wasted years before that.

The pain and agony Ghanaian workers are going through, should be felt across the board including these MPs and the president.

There in lies the problem... MPs are not supposed to "manage" their contituencies (or anything else for that matter)... their job is to legislate (make laws). DC, mayors, Regional ministers, etc are the ones who are suppose to be the managers/administrators. MPs should disabuse their minds of this erroneous notion and there should be a nation-wide public education campaign to educate the public by all above entities, the civi education people and the like.

Aptly stated. These people trying to justify this looting and thievery is most unfortunate. All we have now is GOD to intervene on our behalf!!!

When suppressed people's back is against the wall, God intervenes thru human. It happened during slavery , appathaid and the fight against colonialism.
The MP's and other folks in higher position must learn how to do things for themselves.
Why do they need maids and Drivers?
If they cannot afford such things they should NEVER expect public money for such things.
