Is this the beginning of ":Neo-colonialism?". Hope a leader in Africa will emerge one day to insist on building an Oil Refinery in Africa to prevent the shipping of oil across the Atlantic. Nkrumah did that to our colonial masters - British. And that was the beginning of the chocolate factory in Takoradi. The Brits wanted to dictate the price of cocoa but Nkrumah refused and built the factory for many uses including employment and exporting the products. That also allowed other tribes to learn eating chocolate besides the Fantes. The rate of rush to exploit the oil fields is more suspicious than good. Ghana will rather allow the Oil Companies to keep the profit than a Royalty to Nzema Chiefs and subjects. Also, what is good for America is not good for Ghana. The hidden facts will come out. Do Ghana Bar Association exists? This is a good test case, get involved.

America is respected for the leadership role it plays in good governance and best practices in transparency and accountablity in international affairs. Americans should not allow API to drag their huge good reputation in the mud. The API President's assertion that American companies would be disadvantaged when competing with Russian & Chinese companies amounts to saying; "allow us to behave like the bad guys to remain competitive". America should say 'no' to API.
