Hope you aren't talking about the lazy Americans that help build a country for 265 years for free. Cause if nobody owes anybody a living for free they were damned sure owed some money.

i agree with you that there is tribal harmony in Ghana. The common men and women in Ghana are united in their daily struggles to eke out a living. I think our politicians who clain to be educated have tried to whip up and capitalise on tribal sentiments but have not succeeded. We should be grateful for that. Anyway, how did you arrive at the 100.000 figure for the homeless? Is there any official statistics about that?

I agree with you bro. Komla. My family has an uncompleted building in Ghana. Last February, my wife visited home to check on the building. To her surprise, there was a family of FIVE living in the place which has no windows and doors. They also had a new born child there!! My wife did not know how to handle the situation. So,i told her to advise them to find another place which will be better for the new born baby. Homelessness in Ghana is real!!!

Yes homelessness is indeed real. I wrote the article based on what I saw when I was there. I am hoping that the government will do something about it really soon.

The projects that are being torn down are non viable projects with crime and design related problems. However, the vouchers are government assisted programs which is still part of public housing.

Ghanaians are too proud which I personally don't go against it,but there should be a limit in everything. We rate ourselves according to European standard.Houses are being rented in ( US DOLLAR) in Accra and Kumasi. About the tribal issue,it's not our fault. this is African way of doing politics. Each and everyone is voting for someone from his or her own tribe regardless of that persons programs. So in Ghana today, due to our so called democracy,we have tribal problem.some people needs to go back to school and learn more about ( GEOGRAPHY/HISTORY AND HUMANITY) Some in Ghana are narrow minded people, they always think that Ghana belongs to them,I think its sad. Broad education is really needed.

I pray and hope that the day will come when Ghanaians will not vote according to one's tribal background.

I agree homelessness is endemic within all the cities of Ghana, however, most of these homeless people are from the so called children homes scatterd all over Ghana.
In general SOME Ghanaians are lazy and very slow to see and think for their future without the pastor. Especially those who depends on their relatives living abroad. Is like Aid or trade.
In the Greater Accra Region most these homeless males are from two particular Regions of Ghana, Who migrate for a job that is not there!
We have been doing some informal research interview with some of these homeless people and at the moment concentrating on the Kayayo girls who get rape in exchange for a night of a "good" sleep in a kiosk.
The government can help by supporting social housing, However, it is impossible for the government without people NOT paying tax!!
When you come to the private sector what company in GHANA IS WILLING TO RISK Their investment? Ghanaians Dont do RISK. Hence we are always expecting the whiteman to AID us with our own development after over 50 years of freedom.
Am sure if we ask the white man to come and build FREE SOCIAL HOUSING they will in exchange for some acres of oil in the Western Region.
Komla, I can go on and on but I believe that until we accept that our own resouces in the villages are usefull, the Chinese will continue to come down, live in our abundant villages and take the worth that we Ghanaians dont see.
Yes Homelessness is every Ghanaian problem, however we do not owe anyone who chose to migrate to the city anything.
