Can we actually ban "whiteman de die" from our markets? To be honest, it will only work if the rich will help the majority poor. If we can't afford a decent day's meal, how can we afford to buy a pair of new pants?

All secondhand clothing should be banned without any exception. There should not be any compromise on this. it is not only unhygienic it is degrading to use such items after 56 yrs of independence. Get tailors and seamstresses working again to meet the apparel needs of the country. Wear with pride Adwoa Yankee and othe locally manufactured clothing more suited to our climate. Which man or woman will feel proud to find their partners in secondhand underwear.

As long as we cannot make our own, we will always depend of what someone had used. We used to make Sandals we called "Achimota Sandals" right here in Ghana, when I was growing up. Both parents and kids loved it and was available for all families to get for their children. Children did not have to worry about biscuites during Christmas because we had our own in the Cans (the round ones, if you remember). Boakye Matress, Siaw Tata Brewery, Star in Kumasi, Jute Factory, and the list goes on.....
Our Politicians have destroyed all these companies that produced for local markets and now talk about banning second-hand importation. How should people live their lives if you cannot produce your own for their use? Let's learn something from South Korea and there will be no need to ban second-hand if people can find and afford new ones. Ghana needs to go back to the BASICS and REHABILITATE all those factories and companies of the past, even if the Government has to partner and fund private individuals to bring these companies back to live. Think about the employment and the economic activities this will generate for the country. IT'S THE RIGHT WAY TO GO.

I know two people who are import Chinese goods and are MILLIONIARS according to ghana standard. They are always advising me NOT TO BUY anything NEW in Ghana. Either I buy second hand or buy new when I am abroad!!!
They in the trade and they know they are talking about. Even the Melcom shops are also into inferior goods.
