"IT IS ONLY A FOOL, WHO ALLOWS HIS TESTICLES TO BE STEPPED ON TWICE"-------GO OUT THERE AND RECEIVE YOUR REWARD, ALL GHANAIANS. GO AND PAY THE PRICE FOR YOUR FOOLISHNESS. YOU DON'T GIVE A SECOND MANDATE TO AN INCOMPETENT AND CORRUPT GOVERNMENT, NO!! NOT AT ALL, THAT IS ABOMINATION IN DEMOCRACY, VERY SUICIDAL. HAD NDC MANAGED THE ECONOMY WELL, THESE ECONOMIC PROBLEMS WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THE SITUATION. NDC HAS PRESIDED OVER THE BIGGEST RESOURCES GHANA HAS EVER HAD. THEY HAVE ALSO CONTRACTED MORE LOANS THAN ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT IN OUR HISTORY, BUT THEY HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR THIS. GHANAIANS SHOULD HAVE ENJOYED SOME ECONOMIC PROGRESS AT THIS TIME IN OUR HISTORY. THE ECONOMY IS COLLAPSING BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT IS SO CORRUPT. TO RESCUE THE SITUATION, THE POOR IS NOW BEING FORCED TO PAY. THIS IS INJUSTICE. THIS IS NOT THE GHANA KUFFOUR HANDED OVER TO NDC, HE EVEN ADDED FRESH CRUDE OIL WELLS. NPP TRANFORMED GHANA TO A MIDDLE INCOME ECONOMY WITH LIMITED RESOURCES BUT GOOD POLICIES. NDC IS WOEFULLY REVERSING THESE NPP ACHIEVEMENTS. GHANA'S CURRENT SITUATION IS VERY DISTURBING. WHEN THE HISTORY IS TOLD, IT WILL BE SAID THAT GHANAIANS WERE OFFERED FREE SECONDARY EDUCATION, IMPROVED UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, SOCIAL HOUSING FOR THE POOR AND AN EGALITARIAN SOCIETY BUT 50% SAID NO THANK YOU. THEY PREFERRED ECONOMIC "WOYOMISATION" , PHANTOM DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, PHILANDERERS FOR LEADERS, MACHIAVELLIAN DISRESPECTFUL CORRUPT LOUTS AND A VISIONLESS EVIL GOVERNMENT. I AM SO PROUD I VOTED FOR NANA AKUFFO ADDO.

If you know an old building like this type is closed to the sea, as an engineer, first thing that will run through my mind is how can I out foxed the salty wind on my choice of materials so that they don't get rusted out in no time at all.
There're arrays of materials at the disposal of every good engineer, and that comes to how innovative the engineer is and how abreast he is with new materials out there.

If we depend on cheap building materials from China, this is what will happen. The Chinese have gotten rich supplying cheap products of all sorts to poor countries like us, and we turn around, hail them as hardworking and go for loans from them. Meanwhile, those cheap products are causing electrical fires in our homes and offices and untold damage to our health in many ways. Somebody in the Parliament must demand QUALITY MATERIALS from whatever shade of contractor is chosen for government contracts - be it a school building or the house of Parliament. God save us!

The major problem confronting the country is the failure of bureaucrats, politicians and even the president to accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions or inactions. Did the contractor not know about the proximity of the building to the sea before they embarked on the project and if so why did they not anticipate the challenges that would present and use corrosive resistant materials. By the way, some of the most expensive hotels in the world are built right next to the ocean and yet have lasted because the contractors had vision and the smarts to use the right materials. I would have fired the engineer on the spot for giving such an asinine excuse and belittling our intelligence.

There was this revelation of huge state money for nothing but guinea fowl project which is no where to be found in the entire three Northern regions or any individual showing up to have benefited from the "woyomenized" project. Does is the real essence of John Mahama's ebe diiii keke.
No wonder the State House rehabilitation project was yet another azaaa made "woymenized" NDC criminal ebee dii keke project.
Before the 31st December fake revolution, State House houses a lot ministries and used as offices and residence for highly respected citizen who worked on behalf of the state with huge security like the Castle.
The residence was furnish with high quality material, gold plated eating plates, golden cutleries and hand made floor woollen carpets.
Guess what, Rawlings and his envy hungry tugs captured the noble State House and within days all the golden cutleries, golden plates, floor woollen carpets were all stolen, gone and the place turned into safe havens of hoodlums and wee smoking criminals led by the current CEO of narcotics, Yaw Akrasi Sarpong in a total shameful mess.

Before you make any, comment on my 'comment' please relax and reflect on the following: What do these builders do when you engage their services? They steal your materials. What do mechanics do if you leave your car with them? What do car wash boys do? How about the Police? Then teachers? Pupils have to pay for extra classes.
Market women, shop keepers, tell you no change or not enough change. Judges take bribes to rig cases. Politicians, DCEs, Chiefs.... you name them.... they all steal. Medicines and materials vanish from hospitals ....who steal them? Matrons and cooks steal food meant for students. Pastors and the so called men of God are even worse. Husband and wife steal from each other so do house helps and children. It is so bad that 18 year olds have turned to armed robbery and 13 year olds are turning to sakawa.....and the list goes on and on.
We have become a country of thieves. All government staff steal whatever they can get their hands on. We all know what happens at our ports especially Tema.
So no wonder the building is in disrepair cos all the materials were stolen by the workers. And that is Ghana for YOU!! Medaase pii.

There are Ghanaians in our three branches of government, in our elite universities and even more in the Diaspora who have political connections here at home and yet we continue to make mistakes only classic fools make. Do we not have architect, electrical and civil engineers in Ghana? Do we not have so-called building inspectors in Ghana? We do but all have been bought and sold on the Ghana political stage there is no one left in Ghana with principles, moral indignation or intellectual honesty to stand up for what is right for mother Ghana. What we have left of Ghana is people who are wound up so tight about tribal affiliations and folly masquerading as political parties in NPP and NDC, the very brains that distinguished us human from four legged animals is long gone. What have left running Ghana are a bunch of thieving educated fools and their backers in the Diaspora the likes of Okoampa-Ahoofe, Rockson Adofo and Akasima and all the other educated clowns who pretend their classroom earned degrees will ever be synonymous with wisdom.
The irony and sheer selfishness of it all is that we have people who have made homes in the Diaspora but continue to fuel the flames of tribal bigotry and animus in Ghana while they enjoy their lives in countries where people shed their blood, sweat and tears to make life worth living. For as long as Ghanaians continue to equate classroom credentials with wisdom we will continue to elect fools for our kings and queens whose actions and unwise deliberations are prelude to the sale of the citizens of Ghana on the next slave game coming from those nations we owe. From China to UK to South Africa these brazen fools running Ghana continues to sell our assets and then abuse the little amounts they get out of these staged fire sales. South African companies run our mining industry along with the largest mall Ghana has ever known while China continues to buy land on the cheap and buy management rights to everything Ghana including custodial/janitorial work. The so-called investors come to Ghana to strip the land bare looking for precious metals while polluting our rivers. UK, on the other hand, only settled for our entire Telecommunications infrastructure through Vodafone thanks to Kufour's kind of wisdom even if initiated under J.J. Rawlings.
Please don’t tell me after 50 plus years of independence we can call ourselves people with common sense lest some wisdom. If we cannot renovate job600 left by the one and only Ghanaian with brains, foresight, ideals and wisdom then and now called Nkrumah we have anything to offer the living or the dead. I am not from Nzima or anywhere near western region for those in Ashanti, Volta and other tribes ready to talk a whole bunch of shit about Nkrumah. Our happiness does not come from being free but living lives worth living with dignity. Chinese are not free but they live with dignity and own us in Ghana, go figure. Did the yahoos from NPP then UP or "matemeho" not want freedom from Nkrumah? Are we better off owned by the Chinese or communist China? If living free is holding a shinny tin cup begging the world to drop aid money in our cup then God may have left us alone while giving out the capacity to think and reason.

You have written a very sensible article, thank you., You know the leaders we´ve been having since the overthrown of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah there haven´t been any visionaly and forsight leader in Ghana. All those came after Nkrumah are all brainloose, their brains never function at all hence our suffering in Ghana now. When we take the Volta river scheme for example, the U.P memebers whom Nkrumah defeated in the election, the volta scheme is a trap, just another psycho in the British exploitation in the country. In 1953, the U.P opponents forced Nkrumah to debate in the Parliament, and in the series of debate the U.P MP´s warned that Nkrumah was dangering and slaving the country in a powerful interest beyound his control. But in final analysis the Akosombo Dam was finaly completed in January 22, 1966, just one month Nkrumah was overthrown and that start the begining of Ghana´s suffering. All factories Nkrumah built have been collapsed completely, Tema township choking whenever it rains, Tema motoway destroying, Ghana Black Star Lines collapsed, Ghana Airways collapsed, Nkrumah said that Ghana will look for him, but in most cases they willn´t find him.

We are living in the past, in some kind of dreamland.
We are glorifying a building that has structurally deteriorated so many years ago.
Why do we keep wasting good money, trying to fix or renovate something that is so structurally weak and unsound?
I remember long ago during the 1990s, I use to go there. There were serious visible cracks, from the ground floors right up to the top floors.
There are three Bays or main entrances to the building, where you take the steps or lifts up to the other floors. The bay one was closed off as unsafe, because of the very serious visible cracks.
It needs to be demolished. It is not safe.
Why do we keep spending good money on it? Or is somebody up there making some money out of it ???

Job 600 is suffering from the problems of typical 1960s high rise buildings. In Europe, especially in the UK many of such buildings have been pulled down to make way for well designed ones. Some people may find this outrageous but I think Job 600 should be pulled down for a better one. That building was state of the art in the 1960s Ghana but now it is an eyesore. We have sunk so much money into it and we should not continue to waste our money on it. The building was rushed through for the OAU summit in ?1963 and for me the money has not been well-spent.

Such shoddy work should not be permitted.
The contractor should not be given any more contracts in the public sector.

Wow, 230 ministers in tiny Ghana? Do we need these many people in parliament? A single State in the US doesn't even have a fraction members of congress as oppose to Ghana. That's outrageous!
Not 230 ministers but 275 members of parliament. Yet we'll go for assistance form other countries to support our national budget!

the contractors should have known better that the facility is near the sea and should should use materials that are not easily rusted.
It reminds me of those contractors who when building a house for a client, build one for themselves, in the process - FREE.
