If Dr. Oteng-Adjei and the government of Ghana really believe that climate change needs support and attention, they would have made it abundantly clear to the citizens of Ghana that:
1. Our society needs citizens who understand the climate system and know how to apply that knowledge in their careers and in their engagements as active members of their communities.
2. Climate change will bring economic and environmental challenges as well as opportunities, and those Ghanaian citizens who understand climate science will be better prepared to respond to both.
3. Certainly, climate change will continue to be an important element of public discourse, and understanding the terms and principles of climate science will allow Ghanaian citizens to understand climate related news stories and contribute to conversations as informed citizens. I will be surprised if 10 people at this forum are able to participate meaningfully in talking about this article.
