Before the White-man left Ghana, we had reserves. Everything was measured and done appropriately. As a result, we had stable life without ups and downs. The always blame one another for woes but we all know it is their mismanagement and corruption that is drowning our country everyday. How can a government after taking office in less than three months increase every utility in the country? We don't want stupid structures, we want stable life.
They increased petroleum products and said they were removing government subsidies. They are planing to increase electricity tariffs, citing the cost of production. The would increase water citing the cost of production. The government would increase its own pay and benefit citing cost of living. Yet, the ordinary Ghanian's labor and services are cheaper and our farmers are given rock-bottom prices for their produce. Our miners work under inhuman conditions and receive less for their work whereas mineworkers elsewhere receive more and work under better condition. The irony is that the world price of gold is the same at the international market.
Are we enslaved in Ghana by our own people? Are we really able to manage our own affairs?

VRA may be due some compensation for additional costs. But there must be a clear plan/justification going forward.

Hi Folks,
Does such a person qualify to be a Minister at all? What kind of reasoning is this? Consider the statement: "VRA has a case because power is produced at a cost and so far as you are unable to recover the cost of production of power, you are making losses.”
Did the Minister consider or factor in ALL the cost elements. Did he consider EFFICIENCY and EFFECTIVENESS? Why didn't the Minister consider that the losses from VRA could be attributable to the VER HUGE SALARIES and ALLOWANCES they pay to themselves? VRA and all the other allied agencies/authorities are just PILING or PASSING ON their INEFFICIENCIES unto the final consumer - that is the EASIEST TO DO TO RECOVER COST OF INEFFICIENCY and INEFFECTIVENESS, for non-competitiveness.
What kind of warped reasoning the Minister has and has used to justified VRA's request for 80% increase in tarrifs. What a shame!

Mr. Fuseni, before I go on to say anything, I would like to ask you a question. What is to fools paradise? The pempers paradise? Why do you people keep living in the fools paradise? We seemed to have been living here for so long. What is causing all these power outrage? You don't know? Go back and check what is going on on the black and white Volta and you shall see the answer for yourself. And put your head down and see if this problem, could ever be resolved before you chip in your outrageous contribution.
The lake is drying up almost every year, and what are you saying about this. This tariff that is been collected, what are we going to use it for? Are you going to use the proceeds for an alternative power development ever? If you have no plans than shut up, for it's only a fool who keeps on doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
Burkinafaso has block the in flow of water into our lake permenently and what are we doing towards that. Are we going to go to war on that no! Because that is their natural enviroment so that have to make it covienet for the self. Now it's up to us to also do likewise. The only way for us is to tap either the SUN or use our newly discovered oil to power heavy generators, to substitute our current Hydro electric dam, so as to be able to walk in grace.
Again, why have we been depending so long on some thing our great, great ground fathers invented to suite them almost a hundread years ago?
This is the pempers paradise I am talking about. I believe it's about time we fog ahead of time, because the world is becoming a global village. We now live in the Internet world, whereby one could turn off lights in his home from his Mobil phone so why on earth do we still relie on Hydro for power.
Please consult the Exon Mobil, or GE electric of US that you partneership with our oil now for some advise. Also, don't for get to let Valco chip in their help too, for they are the heavy use of our power,
Thank you.

Go back also to the PNDC kwesi botctwey time and add up how many loans has been plunged into ECG to improve quality. Is VRA saying the cost of production has gone up by 80% between 2011 and end of 2012? We have just been hit by a fuel price increase , now electricity and very soon water. Have much has our incomes gone up. What percentage of our income are we spending on utilities. In effect the average Ghanaian cannot save a cedi going forward - we are only going to be living poorer in a Better Ghana . How can we expect the individual to be able to pay up when even the government cannot keep up with its payment .
