A well-thoughtout policy framework should quickly follow this announcement in order to lay a strong foundation for deriving uptimum economic and geo-political benefits from Ghana's creative arts. At 56, Ghana should have had more to show the world about our visual and performing arts. A National Gallery of Art, a National (touring)Dance and Theatre Group are long overdue. Ghana's outstanding achievements in international cultural exchanges during the immediate post-independence period, put her on the global cultural map and fueled a positive global perception of our the country. The economic and geo-political benefits were evident. We should have sustained it. It still can be done.
