What is strategic about misplacing the priorities of the country? We cannot even provide electricity and water for our people and yet the military continues to consume huge budget line item just to bribe them for loyalty. Can you justify the immediate benefit of this budget to the average Ghanaian. There will always be one among them who will see the evil scheme and turn the gun on you guys.

The country doesn't have any permanent records keeping system, unique identification cards, E-governance, comprehensive address system et al; and you have the audacity to talk about modernization of what? P-L-E-A-S-E!!!
There's nothing good or modern about these head hunters aka soldiers who consumes so much free petrol, together with gov't machinery and end up oppressing/saddling TOR with 1.8 billion dollars debt.
The writing is on the wall.
Modernization, who and what country are we going to fight when we are this hungry? Our leaders of tomorrow are hawking on the streets, not to mention those wailing (Forget the meat) because they got none of the bone.
The population is supposed to surge to 50-60 million by 2050. What's the country's plans for the medium and long term? Abongo boys!!!

This is a gross display of ignorance.Yes all the things you have mentioned are good, but I can tell you it will take less than 24 hours to destroy all these assets should there be a conflict. Even as individuals how much do we spend to protect our properties, including expenditure on our dogs. Military readiness is most important and effective in peace time as a deterrent. I am sure that Malians, Sierra Leoneans, Liberians and the rest who have experienced the horrors of conflict wished they had a more resourced and professional Armed Forces (Emphasis on PROFESSIONAL ARMED FORCES)to deter the trouble makers. There is no developped nation that does not spend on their military.

People are suffering in our villages and all we do is to encourage defence spending..poverty is a more viable threat to the nation than external elements.

It sounds good but i think this's not what Ghanaians want to hear now.Consider the spate of ARM ROBBERY within the country, thus putting fears in every ordinary Ghanaian.
