At a time when government is crying about its huge wage bill and the private sector is collapsing because of erratic electricity and water supply the useless government is going to increase the minimum wage. What a calamity! Business owners will lay off lots of their employees to compound the precarious unemployment situation. Crime will soar............FUCK!!!!!

Does this make sense? How many Ghanians will benefit from this so called minimum wage? It doesn't make sense even is the minimum wage will be 80% or 100% increase. Instead of you paying subsidies on fuel so that the whole country can benefit on it you have rather increase the fuel price and you want to increase the minimum to high level . This is senseless NDC gov.

The government does not have a clue how to run the country. All public workers wages keep going up between 35% and 40% every year and still standard of living is geting worse and worse, because almost everything we consume is imported.Fuel price has gone up in every part of the world but those countries which know how to manage things well need not to increase minimum wages by even 6% let alone 35%. The way our leaders run our economy could be run by any blind person. All one has to do is to borrow billions of dollars, increase fuel price and use that as an excuse to increase workers wages. One thing they should know is that, a time will come whereby the whole contry will be own by our creditors and they will dectate to us what to do and what not to do.First and foremost we must widen our tax base so that we could cut down borrowings. Again we must encourage the private sector to produce more of our imported goods and services in order to cut down importations. Ghanaians must encourage to use made in ghana goods. If we are able to do the above mentioned things and stop bribery and curruption, the country could move forward positively. Thanks for reading

I see everyone here have a better understanding of how the economy and inflation works other than the gov't... but my main concern is that... is your voice being heard by the so called "republic"... Increasing the minimum wage isn't going to amount to anything if the standard of living increases with it. Its about time we realize that the gov't ISN'T for the people because if they were, there're obviously well educated if they hold a prestigious position. Seems like as long as they have the power and money, they will keep playing tricks to keep it. To the average person, raising the minimum wage seems enticing, but we know other wise. Its just shadow manipulation by the corrupt politicians. How can the "people" combat this senseless and manipulative gov't? and by no means am i suggesting violence, I'm just provoking thoughts here :)!

How can you insist you are creating jobs and keep raising taxes, fuel and minimum wage? Look, the private sector may not increase the minimum wage irrespective of the increases but if they are enforced, most of these service companies will have to pass it on to customers if they can, layoff people or close down. This policy of forcing the ordinary Ghanaian to foot the indiscriminate expenditure of a government out of control is unacceptable and cannot wait for the SC to rule so these idiots will go. Truthfully, wobe dii keke!

Our Politicians talk by-heart, why don't they leave the stupid place called Parliament and go and create proper jobs for people. You just don't get up and increase minimum wage three times in a year, when there are no jobs and businesses are failing.
In the real world there is an effective demand and effective supply behind every commodity including labour. When more proper jobs comes into the system or economy, wages would naturally go up.
Also the govt should bear in mind that on the average the Ghanaian worker is damn lazy and a natural shirker at any excuse, thus wages must be linked to productivity and hard-working workers should be rewarded more than the lazy ones irrespective of qualifications or years of engagement.

Leadership problem in Ghana. It does not make sense to increase petrol price and increase the minimum wage.Govt is not able to migrate all wrks on the single spine salaries hence the rampant strikes by doctors etc. You don't rule a country by just trying to please the people even if you can't afford to increase wages at the moment. Has the powers that be, forgotten wage increase inGhana has it's repercussions? The price of every commodity goesup arbitrarily as soon the increase is announced. so the idea to ease the masses is always defeated.
