Ghana government is bankrupt in management of business enterprises. The workers you fight for are the same who will loot, steal, waste and run down the business. We have had enough of this!

I am not the least surprised about the stand of the TUC. They are aware that privatization will send majority of their lazy workers home for good thereby denying the TUC the much needed union dues which they the TUC leaders have been chopping without limit. The day is coming fast when the eyes of the workers will open to see the greed of their TUC leaders and will chase them for deception.

Mr. Assamoah's argument is unnecessary. If the gov't cannot run the refinery at such huge loses, uncontrollable corruption, and mismanagement, what is the next best option? Can the TUC buy it with the accumulated union dues and operate the refinery to the benefit of the poor and the country's labor union?
Besides, both Trade Union and the Teachers Union claim they will not cooperate with the President in salary adjustments, and will not allow privatization of TOR even though the company has been non-operational for 9 consecutive months, and, getting rotten to further lose its value. If you were the President, how will you handle such a difficult situation with a tight national budget?
Our faulty thought process is a serious setback to our national development. Well, allowing Woyome alone to get off-the-hook with almost $45 million is likely to agitate every teacher or doctor to ask for his/her share of the booty, regardless of how stringent the financial condition of the country may be. VERY SAD INDEED!

Asamoah should stop fooling the workers with the old mentality. He knows very well that it is only when TOR isprivatised and managed properly that the refinery can make profit and pay its due share of the profit to the state by means of taxation. I guess he has travelled to part of the world where refineries are never in the hands of the government, even in the communist Russia. People like Asamoah who are running the Ghana Government down by opposing every move of the government thus retarding our progress. He shouild give way to a young leader who truly, truly have the people of Ghana at heart rather than opposing what people think is good for the progress of this country. Old Mentality Colonial TUC Boss. He should go home and take care of his grand children.

It will be mad, in absolute terms, if the government privatises TOR, especially, as Ghana has discovered its own crude oil. On previous occasions, the government had spent large sums of tax payers' money to rehabilitate important state industries and sold them cheaply to private concerns and individuals who, re-employed only few of the labour force and laid off the rest. Yet after years' operation, those industries were closed down due to lack of investment by the owners. Those which have survived seldom paid enough tax to the state. They owners tried all they could to evade tax.
At present, it is everyone hope that TOR will not go down the same way as the other industries(GIHOC industries) which Nkrumah government built for the country. If the government makes any attempt to sell it, not only the TUC but the public at large will resist it vigorously. Some of the industries which were sold in the past provided the authorities the opportunity to get backhanders from the buyers. Not because they were not profitable- what was required was to plough back the profits to re-invest in them - as we were told to believe.

I would not be surprised if the same NDC gurus who import refined petrol and use TOR as distribution depot are the same people agitating for the sale of TOR. Then the thievery will be complete; BUY OUR JUBILEE OIL AT ROCK BOTTOM PRICES, REFINE IT AT NOW PRIVATIZED TOR, AND SELL THE PETROL, DIESEL, BITUMEN AND GAS TO POOR GHANAIANS AT EXORBITANT PRICES.

Those pushing for the sale of TOR have hidden agenda they are pursuing. Fellow Ghanaians, let's be careful with our decision on this TOR sale issue, else we shall undo ourselves.
