The have a bigger responsibility to report where one of the parties involved is a public figure and a role model to many impressionable youngsters. I cannot believe that Mrs Paintsil is choosing to stand by her man. What kind of message is she sending out? That it is ok for women to be battered by their spouses? This is the 21st century and no woman has to put up with any form of physical abuse from a man. Shame on John Pintsil, and a bigger shame on Richlove Paintsil for covering up for her husband.

  "Accra - Former Fulham, West Ham and Leicester City defender John Paintsil was being held by police in Ghana on Friday after his wife was stabbed.
  
  An Accra police spokesperson said they were called to a domestic incident in a suburb of the capital and Paintsil was arrested for allegedly chasing his wife into the garden of a neighbour and stabbing her.
  
  The spokesperson said the woman is receiving hospital treatment for serious eye wounds after collapsing following the assault.
  
  Paintsil was part of the Ghana 2006 and 2010 Soccer World Cup squads and the team that finished fourth this month behind Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa."
  
  It is very shameful that the GFA is trying to cover up in a criminal case. If Paintsil is not part of their cartel, why would they involve themselves in a criminal case. If this were to have happened in a "civilized" and non-corrupt society, he would have been suspended from the national team pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. In addition, all his sponsors would have withdrawn their endorsements pending the outcome of the criminal investigations.
  
  I think the Ghana Police and FIFA ought to investigate the role of GFA in all these rumours about the GFA and hookers in camp. Maybe, the GFA is involved in a soccer prostitution ring also, in addition to bribery and favoritism.

  For the life of me, I could not understand why a sports organization (or any other organzation) grant bail to a private citizen who is facing criminal charges. Couldn't Paintsil bail himself on his own cognizance? Or, doesn't he has friends or other relatives to bail him out? It is just like the South African Olympics Committee bailing Oscar Pistorius out of jail for killing his girlfriend.
  
  You are right, the GFA must be investigated for their relationship with this wife beater.
