I 100% AGREE THAT ECG MUST BE PRIVATIZED. IN ACCRA ALONE, EVERY HOME HAS A DIFFERENT METER BY WHICH TO PAY ITS BILLS. OTHER HOMES USE THE OLD PREPAID CARDS, OTHERS USE THE MONTHLY CONSUMPTION BILLING SYSTEM AND OTHERS USE THE CHINESE PREPAID CARD WHICH RUNS LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS. IN A MONTH A HOUSEHOLD HAS TO BUY ABOUT GHC 600.00 OF ECG CHINESE PREPAID POWER TO SURVIVE. WHILST A SIMILAR HOUSE ELSE WHERE IN ACCRA BUYS GHC 20.00 FOR A WHOLE MONTH THIS IS MANSLAUGHTER.

Cudjoe and his cabal, acting as 'Chop front',as we term it in our local parlance, will find a foreign entity that will pick up the ECG for pittance, then turn around and stick it to us where it hurts! What did the likes of Aqua Vittens do for us in this country? And more to the point, what has Vodafone Plc done to compensate for the tremendous giveaway this nation was forced into, all in the name of efficiency or market rationalization?

Cudjoe must be high on cocaine as his party NPP. He always talk from his downside. His ThinkTank is now toilet tank. I dont think he is thinking properly. How many privatised government companies which they have been divesting since the late 70s are still functioning? where is Ghana Airways, where is Black Star Line, Nsawam Cannery, GIHOC etc.... Water and electricity are vital public utilities. They cannot be privatised like that. Fraklin put on your thinking caps. Your Think Tank is now shit tank.

once upon a time ECG had only Akosombo to take power from, old transformers, old transmission lines a few sub stations, today they have sources like the Aboadze,Asogli, toy generators etc etc .I wont mention Bui because it wont make a difference if it comes on stream. When it was only Akosombo and all those useless network we had better service. With all the new transformers, lines ,new sub stations etc etc we have worse services. The people are the problem not the equipment. The solution is simple ,competition. We need to debate this and find out how best to privatize some aspects of it,selling it may not improve services like we experiencing with vodafone.

Most of you don't get it. Yes, there is no Ghana Airways but people are flying everyday. If you don't want it to be sold then allow the private sector to also supply power and let see if the ECG can be in business.

If ECG is sold I don't think it will create any monopoly. ECG could be broken down into smaller units as done in UK and USA and sold to different private companies where they will be regulated by the regulatory authority. In this wise there wont be anything like monopoly. At the moment they are more of drain to the national coffers than a gain with high level of wastage. If is done prudently i can assure you that it will rather led to reduction in prices as competition will be stiff as happening to the mobile phone sector. At the end the consumer stands to benefit and will lead to reduction in production cost and rid the system of any inefficiencies.

MINORITY AT THE TOP ARE TAKING SO MUCH OF EVERYTHING AND MAJORITY AT THE BOTTOM LIVE IN OBSULUTE POVERTY AND YET WE DELUDE OURSELVES OF GETTING SOMEWHERE. MR CUDJOE,I THINK YOU ARE BEEN UNFAIR TO ECG,THE POINT YOU MISSED IS THAT THERE ARE TWO OTHER COMPANIES(VRA & GRIDCO) IN THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY CHAIN BEFORE ECG. ECG IS JUST THE FINAL PHASE OF THE CHAIN THUS "DISTRIBUTION AND MAINTENANCE" WHAT SHOULD THE DISTRIBUTOR DISTRIBUTE IF THE PRODUCER(V.R.A) DOES NOT PRODUCE,WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TRANSMITTER(GRIDCO)THAT IS SUPPOSE TO TRANSMIT THE PRODUCE HAS NOTHING TO TRANSMIT OR IS NOT TRANSMITTING THE PRODUCE TO THE DISTRIBUTOR(ECG). I THINK THE BEST APPROACH IS INVESTING IN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF ELECTRIC ENERGY BUT ON THE INTERIM LETS OPEN THE ENERGY MARKET,LETS MOVE FROM THE MONOPOLIZED SYSTEM AND BE READY TO PAY THE PREMIUM(TOTAL COST) RATES AND PRICE FOR OUR ENERGY USAGE
