Hi All,
I am a motor rider and I use the roads in the capital city for various assignments on daily basis. I have taken the trouble to look out for various traffic offences that lead to accidents, sometimes very fatal. In my search for answers, I noticed the following which I believe the Police should follow up with very closely.
1. In recent times most vehicles do not have thier break lights working; some have only one of the two working. I had to caution as many as eight drivers on the Fiesta Royale to GIMPA by-pass one evening after close of work when we were all in traffic.
2. Drivers have ignored the need to show their traficator lights indicating where they are tunrning to when they have to turn onto another street/road.
3. Most drivers who ply the George Walker Bush Highway do not use the rear view mirror if they have to move from one lane to the other. They just swerve into the lanes anyhow and ignore the honking from vehicles in the other lanes behind them. This has been leading to various accidents on the Highway.
4. Desingartetd stops for Commercial Vehicles to either pick or alight passengers go unused. Instead Taxi Drivers use them as their stations to load passengers - Areas around the Accra Mall are a good example.
I am therefore, calling on the Police to start arresting faulting drivers, including me if I am found to contravene traffic regulations. Please Police, be up and doing and save our lives including those of your relatives.
Thank you Ghana.
