The nerve center of a typical Ghanaian is no different from those power lines in the picture. As for brain matter equal to snort.
The Baffour cha may be right, only if you base his remarks on the fact that over 50% of the users are all thieves. Ministers and people in power hardly pay for anything, squatters and migrants from all over the country who flock to Accra do not pay for electricity, yet tap into it through mysterious and crafty ways. Who you gonna blame? African God!

Count your blessings, and then seek for more. It's sad when I see people comparing Gh and developed nations. For heavens sake, US has trillions in GDP, been drilling oil for decades, has extra money for other things.
Gh is still building roads, still building hospitals, still building schools, etc. If G'ment puts all its little resources into one venture, what happens to the rest? We have really really progressed as a nation. If u don't believe me, look back at the 1970's and early 1980's where people ate chicken and rice once in year, kids going to school in torn clothes was the order of the day, u could count the number of people who owned private vehicles, almost everywhere in Gh was bush with "bola bird" all over the place,
where there was scarcity of food and near famine, where Nigerian (Africas America) had to depot 1 million Ghanaian professionals who were doing menial jobs in Nigeria, etc. etc. etc. We've come a long way. At least give thanks for once.

How did they get their 72% from, I wonder? In Ghana, anyone just conjures up some obscure statistics to hoodwink the public. The quality of service is appalling to a large extent.
The guidelines followed by my electrician prior to an inspection visit by the Electricity Department when I applied to be connected up to the grid appeared to me to be dodgy in that they stipulated that the cabling be exposed along the fascia board. I questioned the electrician the wisdom in displaying copper cabling plainly for potential thieves and he said that doing it any other way would fail the inspection test. Shortly after the test (which I hasten to say was successful despite the cabling on the outside of the fascia board), some thieves stripped everything.
Personally, I don't think that their statistics matter unless they provide details of the range of satisfactory services they have provided. Ghana shouldn't brag about any achievement when electricity is diabolically erratic.
It reminds me of Ghana Water Board plumbers who have no clueless about branch-tees. All their service connection to customers' houses are done using crude saddle connections by puncturing the mains pipe that runs along the high road. This means that the further from the mains pipe your house is, the higher your costs. In any case, being connected up doesn't guarantee a trouble free supply.

I am very much surprise and disappointed to the fact that GEDAP IS boosting for having achieved 72% of electricity distribution to Ghanaians, while 0.001 percent of the 72% enjoy the electricity in the country.71.999% enjoy electricity continually 30 days within the 365 days.0.003% of the 71.999% use power generators which polute's the clean air that Ghanaians breath.
For how long should we stay idle for our leaders to throw sand in our eyes, and continue to deceive us.Our leaders should be sincere and tell us how many of them sleep in the dark just for even an hour.We all love our country GHANA and we all deserve a fair share of the good things in the country, not just our politicians and their friends and families.

Nobody wants to pay taxes in Ghana. Nobody wants to live in a society where you contribute to the progress of that society. Street Hawkers do not want to acquire real jobs so they can earn a real living paying taxes. Market women do the same, everybody wants to be a farmer and group their own vegetables along any stream (filled with human waste), so they can use the free liquid to cultivate their crops, then supply Chop Bars and other establishments. Never paying a dime. Matter of fact even the lands they grow these crops on are encroached upon. Taxi drivers just randomly make up fares to suit your look and personality, but they don't even pay taxes, yet they want to get rich overnight. All the above mentioned will never be willing to pay for electricity, so they will steal it. How in the would you not expect 72% output to feel like 36% output!
