Does being an "appointed but uncontested" deputy minister of finance, being a representative (by vitue of his position in the ministry of finance), and being "a major player" in the intoduction of VAT (in Ghana), enough achievement to be made the Minister of Finance?
Can someone tell us what this guys achievements are in the roles he has occupied?
Mediocrit is what has put Ghana in this developmental quagmire. It is no wonder the president himself lacks integrity and probity.

At his level as a Finance Minister with all the pressure, it will be extremely difficult to edit every line item or review every report to the letter before he signs on them, so he will need a very dedicated and competent supporting staff who will not sabotage him, and that will come from excellent working relations and good inter-personal skills, without compromising his integrity and professionalism.
Seth, "Knowledge is Power" but it's not everything. Try to balance knowledge with character, integrity, communication and good human relations; and, you'll be fine.
GOOD LUCK!

The Degrees hold as much phantom value as your claim that Gbedemah was the best Finance Minister Ghana has ever had. Like it or not education is very important, even more so in this this complex world we now live in. Ghanaians and for that matter the African's problem is not the ability to acquire education, rather the prudent use of it. You will be hard pressed to find Ghanaians not excelling in any field of endeavor, yet our nation is poor. What I perceive as a problem is over-emphasis on the "paper" instead of deeds. Hopefully with privatization taking root- finally I hope, accountability in the private sector will rise up levels consistent with our developmental aspirations.

Enough said by Mr. Abbey about Mr. Terkper. Mr. Terkper is a very respectable gentleman and somehow a reserved person. He opens up when you approach him and not that he lacks human relationship. We come from different backgrounds and what is needed is somebody who can put his feet down to manage the country's economy without the fear or influence of anyone.
This is a gentleman I got to know in Virginia - USA when we attended local Presbyterian Church where I used to be the church's Financial Secretary. He is very talented, reserved and ready to contribute in monetary matters. I wish him good luck but will these unchangeable citizens allow him to do his work? Time will tell.

Seth will be a very successful Minister at the Finance Ministry; period! Though, I have always supported the NPP, I have no doubt in my mind that Seth will be successful at the MOF. I studied at the University of Cape Coast with him (Old Casfordians) where he was was a student leader. He was hardworking and honest, and he has kept those qualities through his graduate studies and professional accomplishments. For me, he will do fine as Minister at the MOF. Who are the other technocrats? They must also learn to cope with his style.

Joe Abbey, Kwesi Botwe, etc have sold Ghana to the IMF and their principals. Now they are fighting to have their boys run our economy for the benefit of their masters.

What makes you think this New Finance Minister will be any different. Do you realize Kwesi Botwe and co. had not choice but to work their way back tot he West, when Ghana's economy was virtually on the ropes and "Russia's" economic help was never going to happen. Now that there is not Russia to counter-balace the influence of the West, coupled with the corrupt leaders we now have, the West can do as they please.
The question I have for all Ghanaians is: Are you going to judge a person's character based on hearsay or objective view ? I wish for the the latter, because in the end we want effective leaders in key positions.

Your defence of your own enslavement speaks volumes. Can you point to any country in the world that has developed with IMF help or involvement?
