These are laudable objectives but I am afraid it might prove to be easier said than done.

Is there a political will in the Mahama regime to have chieftaincy disputes solved, rather than fish in muddy waters to serve parochial political ends? Fact is, most such disputes have remained difficult to resolve due to the utterly corrupt and unconscionable politicians who became the main backers of the parties to the case, often the one in the wrong! So, if he can stop the politicians from intervening in the case, which also means stopping the use of the state machinery such as the Police to support one side, half the problem is solved.

Then, he must also get the judiciary to act judiciously and promptly on cases brought before them after they have left the moribund and heavily compromised regional houses of chiefs, the biggest obstacles to solving chieftaincy disputes in the country. His objective of improving the staff serving them may be one way to improve their efficiency. Lack of lawyers to serve is a paramount problem, besides the dubiousness of the paramount chiefs who serve on them. How he is going to tackle those twin problems will determine the success of his set goals.

As for me, I've already called for the abolition of the Regional houses of chiefs and the setting up of structures along traditional lines to resolve disputes locally. It is only the Ash/R which can make a claim to a Regional House of Chiefs since the Asantehene is supreme over the whole region.
