All of a sudden nonentities want to portray to the world how close they were to the late President.
Those who had to chat with him for one hour everyday, those Deputy Ministers who had to call him every morning before the man could even brush his teeth, and still those who would be called to the Castle by the late President to express his appreciation for job well done after they had gone to insult political opponents in the media on his behalf. Instead of trying to make a different place for tourists, Accra needs to make it better on the beaches and not just clean up the lagoon. No one is coming to fish in Accra. If the beaches were cleaned up, they could surf fish. As for the people in the area, prices have squeezed them out of every other area and the city will have to set aside some property for them to live. That many people cannot be absorbed into the current areas of the city without huge problems. Many of the areas of the city that they had been in before have been fenced off and construction is taking available space. Oh Ghana, care for the neediest among you with your new oil riches! And stop calling the are Sodom & Gomorrah as that is the new name for the United States with Obama in charge.

So they were getting it on and she was screaming "Kenkey, Fish, Kenkey, Fish, Kenkey, Kenkey"

"Could you stop making Kenkey and fish your getting the Pepper shitow on me"!

I couldna find him!"
The foreman is really angry now, and storms off toward the pile of sand,
looking for the Chinese guy. Just then, the Chinese guy springs out from

Oko is again engaged in forced eviction of the poorest citizens --- the street hawkers, and the people of Old Fadama.
Why don't you rehabilitate them? We did that for Liberian refugees. We could use that camp for some of the inhabitants of Old Fadama who are Ghanaians. We could set up a modest housing scheme, with schools and job opportunities for the citizens of Old Fadama. The alternative is conflict, injury, loss of property and lives as the people of Old Fadama will naturally resist.

The unsanitary conditions in Sodom and Gomorrah is a national health hazard and a human rights issue that affect all Ghanaians. We should not allow that the rights of few Ghanaians who want to live in filth jeopardize the health and economy of the entire country. The rest of Ghanaians also have a "human rights" case not to allow few Ghanaians to get them sick. I'm from the Western Region, but Accra is our capital (similar to a living room)and a greater majority of outside visitors first go through Accra before visiting Kumasi, Temale, Cape Coast, Takoradi or Suyani. My only plea is that the squatters should be treated humanely and compensated according to the law.

It's all very well, but alternative housing has to be offered to these people, otherwise the problem will just shift elsewhere. Where will they live? I'm assuming no-one deliberately chooses to live in a slum if they can help it, so it means these people had no choice, that place is their home, it's the city's responsibility to rehouse them. Affordable housing for the poor, that's something the new government should be working on.
