Now check this,
" The United Kingdom-based firm Maplecroft which monitors elections around the world and advises potential investors and businesses on high-risk investment destinations, thinks the dispute over the result of the presidential election in Ghana needs to be settled quickly and the outcome accepted by both parties, “if material damage to investor confidence in the country is to be kept minimal.” -Sydney Abugri.
_____________
Reasons why NPP lost the polls:
1. Kennedy Agyapong's declaration of kill all Ewes and Gas in Ashanti Region, and the failure of the leadership of the NPP party to swiftly scold him or step up to the plate and exert leadership and discipline. After all, politics is a game of addition and not subtraction.
On the flip-side, in politics, perception can be and is reality - in addition to agility to response in the court of public opinion, especially in this digital era.
2. Why would any party secretary worth his or her salt jump the gun and declare polls results before the electoral commissioner does? Do you remember the image of former President Laurent Gbagbo of Ivory Coast party secretary ripping apart results of their elections on a piece of paper before it was announced? Didn't that won him a world admiration? Besides, how did that workout for NPP?
3. Nana's all die be die, Yen Akanfuo assertions were not necessary, advantageous to him or very inclusive to all the electorates or general populace.
4. If there're any lessons to be learnt at this past polls, it's humility, respect, facts, persuasion of arguments that is what wins/resonates with voters and not demand of respect, instead of earning it.
NPP lost electronic, print, digital media/communications war before, during, and after the elections. A case in point, you couldn't and still can't even get onto statesman website - in fact, I think it's under construction now, go figure! Television station Net two, Oman FM and so on were all shut down when they were needed most.
On the other hand, you name it, NDC had and still has it, from the foot soldiers, researchers to the Presidency (in terms of communication responds and strategy), and they are very swift to respond too. In fact, sometimes they go into overdrive mode by spying or monitoring on some people in advance.
_____
Now check this,
why won't the NPP strategize properly to expand its catchment area for votes? It needs to go beyond merely relying on its core support base so that it can reach out successfully to uncommitted voters or even win others from the camps of the other parties.
Doing so will not come easily. It will call for a consistent and viable political roadmap that will be devoid of all the negative tendencies that have so far made the party unappealing to the majority of Ghanaians. Those who don't like the NPP need to be approached in a better manner to be conscientized and won over. It's a difficult task but must be done if the party needs to survive the whirligig of future elections and stop complaining at every loss.
The events that have so far characterized Election 2012 have combined to dent the party's image all the more. Truth be told, those still supporting the lines of action so far dictated by the party's leaders and taken to pursue the party's interest can be said to be the “choir” that doesn't need any further preaching to. - By Michael J.K. Bokor, Ph.D.
It still baffles me that President John Mahama will campaign for 39 days and beat Akufo-Addo who has been campaigning for 8 years? Seriously the 2012 election was not an endorsement of the NDC but a clear rejection of Akufo-Addo. With the clear-cut victory by the NDC, Akufo-Addo should have gracefully accepted defeat but Alas!! He is still interested in leading the NPP!!
The game plan by Akufo-Addo and his henchmen to perpetuate his grip on the NPP is simple; deny the results declared by EC; create an impression in the minds of NPP supporters you are the real winner but was cheated; go to court and this will stop Alan Kyeramaten's people from campaigning as long as the case is in court; prepare the grounds; ensure that polling station elections are organised by January or February so as to maintain your people at grassroots and subsequently at the constituency, Region and National levels.
Already Akufo-Addo's devotees are postulating all sorts of theories to keep him as Presidential candidate of NPP for 2016. Akufo-Addo will be 72 years old by 2016. Knowing very well the age factor will surely be his greatest stumbling block to his 2016 agenda; references are being made by his supporters to situations in other countries such as US Senator John McCain and Ronald Reagan going into the American Presidential race in their seventies.
There is also the argument that there is nothing wrong with Nana Akufo-Addo being added to Africa's club of leaders above seventy (70) years which includes Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, 87, Cameroon's Paul Biya, 78, Liberia's Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, 76, Namibia's Hifikeepunye Pohamba, 75, and Kenya's Mwai Kibaki, 71. - By Mahama Haruna.
_________
Now let's do the math.
So who are the future National Executives?
What's going to be the game changer in terms of internal hierarchy elections, vis-a-vis competence and meritocracy; as opposed to join the line or gerontocracy?
How does the party become viable in all regions in 2016?
How does the party shed this Akanfuo party and give it a more national appeal?

You must be a critical idiot if you really voted NDc b'cos of the "Kill Ewes and Gas" and "all die be die" . Voting on campaign slogans and rhetorics other than policy based issues and competence tells much about how stupid and backward some of you guys are. If at this age of our democratic dispensation corruption is not an issue, high cost of living, low education standards are no more important to voters, then Ghana really has a big problem. Are you trying to say that you voted NDC so that the NPP can go ahead to visit mayhem on you per their all die be die mantra? For your info, the NPP despise war. That is why they are in court instead of going around 'killing and burning houses in Hohoe Zongo'. We cannot go the Chereponi and Agbogloshie way b'cos our members are real human beings. You mother fucker!

It is said that life is funny if its not happening to you. If a leading member of a political party calls for my annihilation even as the party is in opposition, do you expect me to go vote for that party? Would I not by doing so have signed my own death warrant. In any case you in trying to make your case added insult to my injury by calling my decision not to vote for a particular party based on my own peculiar circumstance stupid and backward. Don't you know that each voter has a reason for opting for the party they voter for (and it may not be any of the issues you think should be guiding their vote?). For me the need to stay alive precedes all the other issues; my reasoning being that dead people don't have a say in the matters in the land of the living.
Now do me a favour, please close your eyes, imagine a leading member of a political party calling for Ewes and Gas to be killed. Can you see him saying that .... now imagine you are an Ewe or a Ga in voting booth .......!

The elections were cooked with the NDC and the EC parried it successively to declare flawed results. It is only those who have some things to gain in the present dispensation that will argue that there was fairness in the last election. Prior to the elections, we all witness how the NDC was always quick to defend the EC on matters that pointed to daredevil things to happen. One can write about the new 45 constituencies. Its not ten years ago! NDC apparatchiks met with the EC on election procedures bordering on bio-metric activities when the other parties were in the dark. Afari Gyan brought in machines "first time use" and was blockheaded that they could malfunction because officials have not being adedequately trained. We saw how long it took for materials to reach polling stations. A security IT company worked closely with the EC whilst all the players in the election except NDC did not know of their existence. Many Ghanaians in the heat of the elections saw and heard these foriegn officials saying they have some kind of linkages with the EC. But ike wonders will never stop happening in Africa, the lady PRO official at the EC without shame denied any link. Sometimes, I am amaze how many Ghanaians; we are just a house full docile people. Can anyone imagine that with the mass wealth of evidence that portrayed at the west Legon area where this chaps were supposedly working on results, happened in say the "spring" countries, that building will still be an edifice to recognize today? I have my doubts. We are replacing military adventurism with civilian Don Quixotism. Craze corruption and thievery is on the ascendancy in Ghana. Patriotism and selflessness are to the wind and what has encompass us all is greed and lies. Educated and non or little educated people, no difference. I wish to live long to see genuine transformation. What we have now is far cry and we do not deserve this. I am looking forward where gov't moneys will not be channeled into campaign billboards, hero funds, i10 vehicles for little school girls. But people will be voting with their conscience and their votes will be counted and not collated by thieves

Fellow Ghanaians, let us analyze the performance of the two main political parties in this country. NDC’s philosophy is “dzie wo fie asem”. In opposition they allowed the Kufuor regime to mind its own business. As a result the NPP looted the Ghana government for eight good years. The fat cats looted the economy from cash (Kwadwo Mpiani), bungalow (Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey), cooking pots (Sekyi-Hughes) etc…..70% of the richest people in Ghana are NPP apparachicks. In the case of NPP, they believe they know better than anybody else and they are the only people who have the divine right to rule Ghana thus they oppose everything NDC does if it is not from the NPP, whether good or bad, from, Chinese loans, judgment debts, appointments and even the inauguration of President Mahama. This enabled the NDC to always be on their toes in whatever they do. From this observation, you can all agree with me that the NPP are better in opposition than NDC. Fellow Ghanaians, let us ensure that NPP remains in opposition for thirty years. After that time NDC will improve everything and NPP will come back and rule Ghana till thy kingdom come.
