Do you open every bid to the whole world? This is a very specialized job with serious security implications for the nation, for God's sake. You guys are so consumed with ignorance and hatred that in every instance you would try to seek to bring politics into everything. The Ameri plants were manufactured by General Electric which was supposed to cost a total of USD360million from General Electric. GE engineers came to Ghana to negotiate with the gov't for the ten units to be sold to Ghana at US$360million. Yet John Mahama gave the sole-sourced contract and paid USD510million to Ameri Energy, which had no previous experience and you didn't see anything wrong with it. Mahama again signed a dubious PPA agreement which included Take or Pay clauses which has cost the country billions of US Dollars and for which we have paid over USD500million every year for power that we haven't used. After we have paid for the plant and it has become the property of Ghana, it is now that you are concerned about sole coursing. Those of you who claim to be experts but know next nothing should allow the country to know some peace. Whether you like it or not, the people of Ashanti Region will enjoy the power produced by Kumasi 1 Thermal Plant to stabilize the region's power.

Honestly, I've been wondering why it was necessary to move the plant to the Ash/R at great cost instead of transmitting the electricity there through the powerlines.

Solar power is now cheaper in many instances than fossil fuel-generated power. Sunshine is free so why don't we start using as many other countries have started doing.
