Abdul Baba Rahman was named in the starting XI and went on to play in the full duration of Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League game against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday night.

In a fixture where regular full right back Branislav Ivanovic had returned from an injury layoff to train with the Chelsea first team, manager Jose Mourinho kept faith with the Ghanaian defender slotting him at left full back while Cesar Azpilicueta played in the opposite right side of the defence.

Chelsea who desperately needed a win in the game to give hope for their disastrous season got a breather in the first half when Dynamo Kyiv’s Dragovic put the ball into his own net from a Willian cross.

The Stamford Bridge outfit took the 1-0 home lead into the interval and returned with zeal to get more goals.

Hearts sank at Stamford Bridge when own goal scorer Dragovic scored again on the night to put the game at 1-1 with 12 minutes to go.

Chelsea however did not give up home and quickly restored their lead five minutes later as Willian scored the winner for Jose Mourinho’s men to end the game 2-1.

Chelsea moved to second position on the Group G log with three points from the win against Dynamo Kyiv. The Stamford Bridge outfit now has seven points from their four UEFA Champions League fixtures, three behind first team Porto and two ahead of third placed Dynamo Kyiv. Maccabi Tel Aviv are still without a point from their four fixtures.
