Neo-colonialist Rawlings was hired to destroy Ghana - CPP Elder

A member of the Council of Elders with the Convention People's Party (CPP) and former legislator, Madam Elisabeth Enning has lambasted former President Rawlings for his comments describing Nkrumahists as criminals.

The former President of Ghana addressing a delegation from the Association of Cuban-Trained Ghanaian Professionals at his residents described some politicians claiming to pursue the ideals of Ghana's President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as criminals.

''Can you believe that those of us, we don't even regard ourselves as Nkrumahist's " Those who call themselves Nkrumahists are the worst offenders, criminals. From Mills till now, not even one single policy resembles anything Nkrumah stood for or believed in,'' former President Rawlings said.

But Madam Elisabeth Enning in an exclusive interview with Kwame Tutu on the morning show of Rainbow Radio said Rawlings do not have the moral right to make such scandalous statements.

Ghana, she opined, must confront its past to tell the history of what happened to our country in the past.

"Ghanaians needs to confront our past and learn from our past to move forward as a nation...We need to tell the good and bad side of our former leaders to ensure that we put the facts right."

Madam Enning, who served under the First President, could not believe why former President Rawlings made such a statement when he himself is more than guilty of the criminality he accuses others of.

She accused him [Rawlings] of hijacking members of the CPP with commandos to form his party, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Madam Enning said former President Rawlings knew the CPP was a very formidable, organised party and due to that, he took over the party with violence to use its members to rule.

''Rawlings hijacked the CPP under the leadership of Mr. Kweku Boateng with commandos because he knew he could use them to form his party. He brainwashed members of the CPP. He deceived the CPP that he was going to continue from where Dr. Kwame Nkrumah left, but that was not true; because we knew it's the late Acheampong who was rather building on the foundation of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Rawlings destroyed the CPP to build the NDC. So what is he talking about?''

The former legislator chided the former President for twisting facts and lying to Ghanaians hence Ghanaians should analyze our past one by one, to bring out the truth.

She questioned reasons why the late Acheampong was shot and killed. She further stated that the former President could not form the NDC if he had not hijacked and destroyed the CPP.

''Rawlings could not have formed the NDC if he had not hijacked the CPP...What crime did Acheampong commit to warrant his killing? Acheampong did a lot for Ghanaians. So why was he killed? Did he [Acheampong] borrow to develop Ghana? Did Acheampong not build estate houses?We need to know why Rawlings killed him.''

"Is there any criminal better than Rawlings? Someone who bought 'red red' on credit; is more than a criminal.Where did he get his money from to become a multi-millionaire? He should tell us. We need to dig out the truth. Is Rawlings holier than thou? He should tell us.''

Madam Elisabeth Enning further accused Rawlings of presiding over widespread corruption, looting brigade stealing and selling state assets to his family, friends and cronies.

Ghanaians are suffering because Rawlings passed the state divestiture law allowing his family and cronies to purchase state assets including the Nsawam canneries among others.

''We need to expose the rot under the former President Rawlings' government because he is not justified to describe Nkrumahist as criminals. Rawlings, his family and cronies, passed the state divestiture law to sell and steal from the state... We need to go in and dig out the truth and expose the rot under his administration. Together with his wife, they stole from the state so what is he [Rawlings] talking about?''

She stressed that Ghanaians are making the wrong choices because they don't know the history of this country.

"Rawlings do not have the moral right to talk about corruption. Ghanaians are suffering because of Rawlings. The massive corruption, indiscipline, intolerance and economic hardship in Ghana today, should be placed at the doorstep of former President Rawlings. He purposely came to destroy Ghana. He is not qualified to comment on corruption because he is an agent of neo-colonialism and was purposely hired to destroy this nation. I will not mince words; Rawlings has no integrity, he is corrupt and more than a criminal."
