General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong says the NPP must win the Amenfi West by-election to send a strong signal to the rest of Ghanaians the need for change of government in 2016 general election.

According to him, though the Amenfi West seat has long been occupied by the ruling NDC for many years, there is a chance for the NPP to win that seat because the people of Amenfi West are tired of the bad governance of the NDC.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Kwabena Agyepong posited that the NDC, due to its dominance in the Constituency, has taken the people for granted and thus has denied the people projects which will enhance the farming activities in the areas.

He revealed that due to the by-election, the NDC has started some road constructions in areas which are not needed whereas the cocoa growing areas have been neglected.

“The people are fed up with the NDC government because after voting for the party for many years, they are bereft of development; stressing the people of Amenfi West only boast of the projects which were done by Kufuor’s administration,” he asserted.

He admitted that “though the by-election will be tough, the NPP will win because the people of Amenfi West will weigh their living condition on a scale to determine whether the NDC deserve to continue or there should be a change of government”.

To him, the by-election campaign is not about money but rather it is about sacrificing your time and energy to change a bad NDC government for NPP which has the track record of making lives comfortable.

He however urged that the New Patriotic Party must win to send a strong signal to others that a change is necessary in the 2016 election as the NDC government cannot to mismanage the economy and the scanty resources.
