Mahama ‘disowns’ Nunoo Mensah

President John Mahama does not support his national security advisor’s vituperative harangue against public sector workers, Deputy Information and Media Relations Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has told Strict Proof.

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the president’s failure to condemn Nunoo Mensah’s comments, betrays his subtle endorsement of the opprobrium.

The party also said the president’s nodding at the comments, was proof that he endorsed his security advisor’s outburst against organised labour.

Kwakye Ofosu, however, told Strict Proof on Monday that Mahama cannot be said to have endorsed Nunoo Mensah’s comments merely because he did not condemn the outburst.

Nunoo Mensah vented his spleen at a public event attended by President Mahama in Accra at the weekend.

He described organised labour as “unpatriotic” and “undisciplined”.

According to him, if organised labour found the country “too hot”, they should just “get out”.

He expressed befuddlement about why labour organisations incessantly threatened or went on strikes over their allowances and salary arrears instead of sacrificing for the good of the country.

He has taken a lot of flak for his comments with the NPP calling for his dismissal.
