Gov't must summon SA High Commissioner over killing of Ghanaian - Egbert Faibille

A private legal practitioner, Egbert Faibille has called on government to summon the South African High Commissioner to Ghana “to explain the senseless murder of our compatriot in the xenophobic attacks that has taken over that country.”

Reports claim a Ghanaian by name Emmanuel Kwesi Quaison has been killed in the current xenophobic attacks in Durban, South Africa.

The reports further suggest that Quaison was killed in the coastal city of Durban on Thursday by marauding youth who accuse foreigners of taking their jobs.

Mr Faibille, who posted the comments on his Facebook wall, said the government must act swiftly by inviting the South African Diplomat to explain senseless killings of innocent Ghanaians.

“Ghana must summon the South African High Commissioner to Ghana immediately to explain the senseless murder of our compatriot in the xenophobic orgasm that has taken over that country. Ghana under Nkrumah right through to the collapse of apartheid gave so much to the indigenous people of South Africa and should not be paid back in this manner,” the legal practitioner said.

There are reports that 10 people have been confirmed dead in the violent attacks while shops belonging to foreigners are being looted.
