Seminar to sensitize stakeholders in combating AIDS ends.

Winneba (C/R) Oct. 13, GNA- A day's seminar aimed at sensitizing stakeholders, including opinion leaders, traditional rulers and the clergy engaged in the fight against AIDS in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya has ended at Winneba.

The workshop, which was organized by the Central Regional Office of the National Population Council was under the theme: 'Resource mobilization for stakeholders in the fight against the HIV/AIDS' menace was attended by officials from the Plan Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), the Ministry of Health, opinion leaders, the clergy, and traditional rulers.

Addressing the participants, the District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu Senya Captain Steve Kwamena Armah (rtd) called on stake holders in the fight against the HIV/AIDS menace to develop advocacy strategies that would help integrate the role of reproductive health issues into their training programme.

Captain Armah said the provision of reproductive health information would better guide the adolescent against the incidence of Reproductive health issues.

The Regional Director for National Population Council (NPC) Mr. Paul Djan was of the view that if the nation is able to equip the adolescent with the much needed information, it would help them to make informed decisions on adolescent reproductive health issue.

Mr. Djan called on District Assemblies to sponsor adolescent reproductive health programme in their respective districts when the assistance of the African Youth Alliance, ends early next year. He cautioned radio presenters against the use of profane language during their programme since the use of such language is doing the country more harm than good.
