This photo story highlights a major challenge that villagers in Vogu Gundaa in the Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region have faced for years – the lack of clean water for household use and farming.

The poor villagers are compelled to use the polluted water on daily basis, making the villagers face health problems, such as diarrhea, and skin diseases.

They have had to spend money on curing their disease, which continues to impoverish them.

The lack of clean water resource and sanitation is a silent disaster.

The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak who shared the disturbing photos of the plight of locals in his constituency on social media claimed he’s taken the necessary steps to ensure the people of Vogu Gundaa in the constituency, and a few others that do not have clean drinking water are provided the dignity they deserve by giving them boreholes by the end of June 2017.

“I refuse for this to continue under my stewardship as MP for Kumbungu. These are the kinds of problems that keep me awake at night. We cannot neglect the duty of care for the less privileged,” he wrote in a Facebook post hours ago.
