Blogging Ghana trains media on social media

A Blog Camp to train the media to effectively use social media to enhance their performance has been organised in Accra.

The 2016 blog camp training, which was conducted by Ghana Decides, an election project team, covered the organisational use of Facebook and Twitter, social media strategies and best practices.

The event, which drew participants from various media houses and institutions, aimed to train and equip stakeholders in the upcoming elections with the capacity to use social media tools to communicate, engage and inform effectively with the public.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Ghana Decides Project Leader, Madam Kinna Likimani, said it was an annual event from BloggingGhana for people to learn from blogging and the use of social media.

“This year is to sensitise Ghanaians on the need for effective communication through the various social media platforms ahead of the upcoming elections, so we thought it wise to train institutions like the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police, Prisons Service, GNA and other bodies, on how to start using the social media to communicate effectively.”

Ghana Decides is a non-partisan project by BloggingGhana, which seeks to educate and mobilise voters, including marginalised voices to help ensure an inclusive and issue-based elections 2016 campaign.
