AFS-Ghana embarks on cross-cultural campaign

American Field Service (AFS-Ghana) has rolled out Africa regional cross-culture campaign to inculcate in the youth a sense of patriotism for national development in a technologically competitive world.

The campaign would also provide intellectual learning opportunities to help the youth to build their capacity in the field of global marketing knowledge, skills and understanding for competing and contributing to world peace.

AFS has, therefore, trained advocates from Ghana, Egypt and Kenya to serve as vanguards for the African regional campaign.

Mr Kwame Otchere, National Director of AFS-Ghana, said the campaign was to create change makers and strengthen African partners in efforts to groom global citizens through sustainable opportunities.

Mr Otchere said the project also sought to provide meaningful engagements that relates to cross-cultural attributes to impact on the youth positively to enable them to be good problem solvers and advocates for peace.

"We have been exchanging students throughout the world for 60 years. That’s six decades of history and experience in international education, with an exemplary record of safety, security, and service to students, parents, and educators,” he said.

Uncle Ebo Whyte, a playwright, author and motivational speaker, who was a special speaker, advised the youth to be time conscious and pursue excellence and integrity to help them achieve successes in life.

Mr Adu Appiah, CEO of OneBillion Africa, a non-governmental organisation, challenged the youth in Africa to develop their intellectual capabilities to help turn problems in Africa into projects and find solutions to them.

AFS offers international exchange programmes around the world through independent non-profit organisations, each with a network of volunteers.

It works towards a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.
