Ho Rotaract Club wins International Award

The Rotaract Club of Ho (RoCH) members saw their sweat, determination and hard work paying off when their Dental Health Screening and Education Project was adjudged the best during a District Conference in Lome, Togo.

The RoCH members picked up the ultimate prize at the Assembly and conference of the Rotary International District 9102 of which Togo, Benin, Niger and Ghana forms part.

The project, which was tagged "Good Dentition for all", was carried out in conjunction with Volta Aid Foundation and the Volta Regional Health Service from August 25, 2014, to September 11, 2014.

It received lots of patronage from Ho and its environs where about 100 beneficiaries got their teeth cleaned and screened whilst 200 of them got educated on dental health.

The project aimed at educating the community on the ‘dos and don'ts’ of a healthy dentition. The beneficiaries were Rotarians, Rotaractors, the Non-Teaching Staff of the Ho Polytechnic and the entire Public.

Every participant was given toothpastes, toothbrushes, mouthwash and other Dental Health items.

Elvis Damsah, the President of the Club said he was surprised when his Club got nominated because the other Clubs were also worthy of the reward.

He expressed his gratitude to the Volunteer Coordinator, Eric Botey and Madam Heather Lonergan, a Dental Health practitioner stationed in Deerfield, Massachusetts, for their relentless efforts which contributed to the success story.

He also dedicated the award to his Service Projects team, which is chaired by Markson Korku Seayor and his entire membership for their support.

He also recognized Rotary Club of Ho, their Sponsoring Club, for the mentorship and guidance since he took office.

The success is achieved under the leadership and mentorship of Mr Rockson Dogbegah, the President of the Ho Rotary Club.

Rotaract Clubs are Youth Rotary Clubs open to young professionals and students from age 18- 30years.

Mr Dogbegah commended the Ho Community Rotaract Clubs for their outstanding performance.

The Award, which came with an amount of CFA250, 000.00 ($500.00) was presented to the President by the District Rotaract Representative (DRR) of the Rotary International District 9102.
