Finatrade gives financial support to five KNUST students

Finatrade Foundation Ghana, has presented scholarships to five financially-challenged second-year students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Agricultural Department, to aid in their academic pursuit.

They would each receive total cash of GH¢2,400.00 to take care of their fees for the next three years.

Mr. John Awuni, the Director of Co-operate Affairs, said this brings to 223, the number of students, who have benefited from Finatrade’s support package over the past 12 years.

He put the total money spent on them at two million Ghana Cedis, and said they were proud that many of the beneficiaries were now serving in various responsible positions, and making significant contributions to the nation’s development efforts.

Mr Awuni spoke of continued assistance to students pursuing programmes in agriculture, because the sector was the mainstay of the economy of the country, and therefore the way forward to speed up its progress.

He encouraged the students to work hard to justify the assistance.

Professor Richard Akromah, Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), praised Finatrade for the scholarships, and backing for the training of the nation’s manpower.

He cited the establishment of a model farm at the Agriculture Department to train students in vegetable production.
