Okyehene to unveil new chief for Apapam

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin, Okyehene, says plans are far advanced for the installation of a new chief for Apapam near Kibi in the Eastern Region.

He has therefore called on the people to be law abiding and put a stop to chieftaincy litigations which he said is hindering the development of the town as well as the loss of lives and property.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin made this known when he met with about 600 chiefs, queenmothers and sub-chiefs from Okyeman Traditional Area at Kibi.

He noted that at the moment there is no chief at Apapam.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin told the chiefs that Akyem Abuakwa State has only stool lands but not family lands.

He therefore cautioned the chiefs to desist from selling lands in the area and that anyone caught perpetrating the act without the knowledge of Okyeman would be dealt with.

He urged individuals and companies who are interested in acquiring lands in the area to contact the Okyehene’s Secretary at Ofori Panyin Fie at Kibi for proper documentation.

“Anybody holding land indenture without the emblem of the Akyem Buakwa State and the signature of the Okyehene would be deemed to be invalid,” he declared.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin noted that illegal sand-winning is destroying thousands of acres of farm lands at Teacher Mante and its environs and asked those involved in the act to put a stop to it or face arrest and prosecution.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin used the occasion to introduce Nana Mbeah as Okyeman Mponoahene (land boundary chief) for the traditional area.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin explained that the Mponoahene has been mandated to inspect the land boundaries of Okyeman and report any development back to the Okyeman Stool Secretary at Ofori Panyin Fie at Kibi.
