Navrongo NCCE Organises Election Forum for Contesting Parties

The Kassena-Nankana District Electoral Officer, Mr Freeman Kofi Baldwin has appealed to political parties contesting the Navrongo Central Constituency by-election to post party agents who were conversant with electoral procedures to the various polling stations.

He also appealed to polling staff to co-operate with presiding officers to facilitate the proceedings to enhance Ghana's international credit in electoral processes. Mr Baldwin was speaking at a day's forum organised by the Kassena-Nankana District office of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the District Police Command and the Electoral Commission (EC) for representatives of the four political parties contesting the by-election scheduled for March 25. The parties are the Democratic People's Party (DPP), People's National Convention (PNC), New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He reminded them that the campaign was to enable the contesting parties to woo floating voters and not for them to attack personalities. The District Director of CHRAJ, Mr Dominic Wasingo appealed to activists of the various parties to refrain from castigating their political opponents. Touching on security, the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) W.S. Sampana, told the party representatives that they were expected to submit their campaign time-tables to the Police, who would monitor and advise them on matters pertaining to security. Mr Sampana cautioned party representatives and their supporters against the violation of the electoral laws and urged them to co-operate with the security agencies to ensure a peaceful election.
