W/R Police Command assures public of safety during Christmas

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Alex Quainoo, Western Regional Police Commander, has cautioned the public against obstructing the police in the performance of their duties.

He said nobody had the legal right to attack policemen when performing their duties and anybody caught doing so would not be spared.

DCOP Quainoo was briefing the media about measures that the Regional Police Command had put in put to check crime during Christmas at Sekondi.

He advised policemen to be more professional in the performance of their duties to win public confidence and support.

DCOP Quainoo said the police were to protect Ghanaians and foreigners alike and that the public must co-operate with them to protect life and property.

He said the Regional Police Command aimed at minimising armed robbery in the region during the Christmas period.

DCOP Quainoo called on the public to volunteer information about robbers to enable the police to clamp down on them.

He said the Regional Police Command had also intensified patrol, particularly on highways, and beefed up security in anticipation of increase in crime during the Christmas.

DCOP Quainoo said strategies had been mapped out to check the sale and use of Indian hemp and cocaine and the den of those engaged in it would be destroyed.

He advised drivers and pedestrians to abide by traffic regulations to ensure accident free Christmas and asked drivers to repair mechanical faults on their vehicles before going on the road.
