Fire burns headteacher's room

Fire gutted the room of Mr Augustine Manu, headteacher of Biemso Number One local authority Junior Secondary School at Mfensi in the Ahafo-Ano South district last Friday.

The fire destroyed property running into millions of cedis and included wax prints, radio cassette player, travelling bags, foam mattresses, wash basins, certificates and cash of about 500,000 cedis.

Briefing the GNA on the incident, Mr Manu said he was with a carpenter friend in the afternoon at about 3 pm, when he saw smoke from his house and rushed there to see his room on fire.

He said at the time of the fire, his wife and children were away and said he therefore suspected that it was caused by an electrical fault.

Mr Manu said presently, he and his family were putting up with a Church of Pentecost elder in the town and therefore, appealed to the Ahafo-Ano South district assembly, philanthropists, non-governmental organisations, individuals and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to assist them.

He said the clothes he and his family wore on the day of the fire outbreak were their only clothes now.
