Early sexual education necessary

Miss Grace Amokwando, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) co-ordinator, has said that early sexual education by parents was needed to minimize teenage pregnancy.

Miss Amokwando said this at a two-day workshop organized at Breman Asikuma in the Central region.

The workshop was organised by Hope for Future Generation an NGO, for 42 participants drawn from Consumer Health Association to plan and design advocate message on negative sexual and reproduction health issues.

The Consumer Health Association comprised personnel from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), Ghana Education Service (GES), nurses, National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), assembly members and volunteer groups.

Miss Amokwando said the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District was ranked the highest in teenage pregnancy in the Central Region from statistics compiled by the Ministry of Health.
